Order the escargot for an appetizer and get the nougat glace as dessert. Both delicious. Great place to have a coffee or glass of wine before venturing off to your next destination. I had the steak there one night and was almost floored at how well it was prepared.

We stayed nearby and were fortunate to try Cafe des Officiers early in our 2 week vacation. We made it our routine to stop at the cafe nearly every evening for either a meal, dessert, or drink. Yes, one of the waiters seemed a little put out that we did not speak French very well, but as time went on we grew to love the entire staff and learn more French. In fact, the stuffier the waiters, the better the food is what we found out. Plus, French is a beautiful language and we should learn to speak it as much as possible so it will never be lost! Soon we were warmly greeted each evening and were able to try many delicious items on the menu, plus we ask for recommendations and felt we lived a little more than the average tourist. It was very sad to leave Paris, and we have the fondest memories of this cafe. It will be our first stop when we return someday. Fond memories: pot de rez (rice pudding) and nougat dessert, yum!

The service was fast and accurate. The food was typically French and was tasty but somewhat expensive. The staff was friendly and did their best to satisfy.

I was staying a few doors down at the Hotel Eiffel Turenne. I ate breakfast here most mornings (nice warm croissants, baguette, preserves, orange juice and coffee for 9 euros. Had many cups of coffee and kir here, and also dinner one evening. All wait staff were very pleasant and efficient. It's best to sit outside and people watch.

We really wanted a good croque monsieur. We ate here about a year ago and had just that. But this time they were really bad. I don't know if there is a new owner or chef but it was not that great and I wouldn't recommend coming here for that.
