We stayed here for 5 nights on our trip to Paris. We flew around midnight and came to reception at half past midnight. There was no problem with check-in and the staff was very kind, when they saw us tired by journey. The room was clean, and the size was good for money we spent. We booked Superior double room (room 504), which was with balcony and maybe it was larger than standard rooms, but anyway - still Paris-sized. "Film theme" was softly touched by some pictures, photos... They make up room everyday and we can not complain about cleanliness. Metro station was 5 min. by walk (Riquet - line 7) or 10 min. by walk to Stalingrad (line 2). WiFi working perfectly during our stay. We appreciated also AC,lift and LCD Tv. Behind hotel is river canal with small "beach". Hotel Le Canal is great place for sleep and relaxing after discovering city.
The only disadvantages we saw - our room didn't have a door to bathroom - there was only curtain (because the rooms are really small), but if you are traveling as couple it's okay and it provide enough privacy and the hairdryer didn't working.

Room Tip: Almost all 5th floor rooms have a balcony, try to ask!!!!!!Higher floors are quieter.

which was a place to sleep on the cheap and AC for the recent heat wave in Paris. Stayed 4 nights, room was certainly small but clean, quiet, good internet and AC, decent breakfast, has luggage storage for after checkout.

Room Tip: Didnt spend enough time in hotel to have an opinion just slept there

We stayed here with friends as part of our French cycling holiday. It is a basic hotel within easy riding distances of the important Paris Railway Stations. Having stayed for a night the previous year we thought we would use it again for its convenient position, despite the cramped and basic amenities. We were very specific about the particular rooms we wanted and booked well in advance to ensure we didn't end up in the grottier rooms. However, our booking was not honoured, and we were forced to take 'lesser' rooms at the same price. I wouldn't stay here again, but I guess it provides a facility at a reasonable price if you get stuck, just dont look too closely at the cleanliness of the recesses!!!!

the location is perfect ! the metro station is very close to the hotel. Rooms are clean but small. There are air condition, private bath and LCD Tv in the room. The room service is also good, they clean everyday.

Rooms are very small. One of the people in our group checked into the room and found bloody towels and sheets, room obviously not ready. My IPhone was stolen out of my room while here. The front desk indicated the cleaning was contracted out and they had no idea who had been in my room.

We stayed in Hotel Le Canal from the 14-16th May 2013. I was prepared for small room as this is what was commented on here and it was small, but seeing we only slept there and showered it was fine. We paid 130 euro a night for it and it was very close to the Metro which was awesome because we used it to get around everywhere and quite easy to work out. The staff were friendly enough and spoke enough English for us. They also arranged a shuttle to collect us to take us to the airport on the day of our departure which was the cheapest way to the airport. Breakfast was just ok they had hard boiled eggs that were cold and some cereal and pastries. There was fruit and yoghurt and some cold meat and cheeses. For 5 Euro each can't really complain.

Room Tip: The Metro is very close which is the best way to get around the city quickly and easily and economic...

good:
staff was always nice and helped in every Situation
Room was with 11m² small but for a Sightseeing tour enough
good Position for trips because of central Position between Metrostation Riquet and Stalingrad
behind the Hotel was a chanal for Relaxing and take a walk
stores and restaurantes nearby the Hotel
French People were all the time nice and helped us, also with my bad French language

not so good
bed was for my wife to hard (this is restricted to personal preferences, nothing bad!)
Paris is a City that never sleeps, so there was always noise from the street in front of the Hotel, with closed window it was better but still to hear, so sleeping with open Windows was not possible from our Point of view (we live in a village with no noise, so this was a difference to our normal life, so what that's why we came to Paris ;-) )
