“comfortable & good located”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2014

We spent two nights in this hotel and our overall impression was quite good. Our room was very small, especially the bathroom was tiny. I think that my toilette at home is about the same size of the whole bathroom in this hotel. At first sight the room looked clean but when you took a more precise look you could see that the shower wasn't cleaned very well and there were also a few hairs in the bathroom.
Our view was quite nice as well: the room was on the third floor and you could see the sky and the other houses around (which were - like most buildings in Paris - beautiful decorated). The windows were faced to a road but it was not noisy at night because the windows are quite good.
There is a metro station about 5 minutes away from the hotel. It belongs to the metro line 1 which is quite long and takes you to most tourist attractions directly.
On our first two days (Saturday and Sunday) we met quite unfriendly staff at the reception. When we first arrived at the hotel, we waited for about 10 minutes before somebody showed up at the reception (I have never experienced something like that before). On Monday (our last day), the staff who we hadn't seen the other days were completely different. They were extremely courteous and left an professional impression.
We also experienced a huge difference regarding the breakfast staff. Breakfast after the first night was pretty chaotic and messy. The waitress was busy in the kitchen or carried out glasses (one by one) and did not realize that the buffet would have needed a refill. At first, there was no bread. When she had refilled the bread, there was no cheese and no spoons. In 45 minutes, they ran out of coffee twice.
Well, my expectations were low when we went for the second breakfast, but this time many things were different. There was another waitress working who also welcomed us nicely. Everything was in stock and they also offered new things to eat. For example, on the second day they offered fruits, an additional cereal was available, cakes, milk .. this breakfast was very enjoyable.

On the day we checked out, we left our luggage for several hours at the hotel without any additional charges. We also checked in much earlier than we officially would have been able to (although I did not announce our early arrival time).

You can see the wear and tear in this 'hotel'. Don't get me wrong, it is nice and quite spacious (for center of Paris), but it is not a boutique hotel, I would say more of an upscale b&b.The personnel at the reception is nice, but the attitude is very relaxed and not necessarily professional. We appreciated the location and the size of the corner room and the lively square just round the corner with good restaurants and nice little food shops, but overall for that price I would stay somewhere else.

Overall I liked the hotel, good location, in walking distance from the Arc the Triomphe. Close to the very interesting metroline 1, deserving a lot of highlights. We had a standard double room, not big but not cramped. We booked with Thomas Cook and had a nice offer: 2 nights + 1 free. The rate in the room was too expensive: 206 euros, no breakfast included! ( we paid less per night, 175 euros and got one night free, breakfast included (in August)) For 206 euros you don't even have coffee or tea facilities in the room or a minibar. The airco was perfect though. The rooms are very nicely furnished, with very nice linen. I would go again but only with a special offer. The staff is friendly. Prices for drinks down in the lobby are very reasonable.

Very nice location, close to restaurants, food market and shops. Rooms are spacious and clean with all amenities. The staff is friendly and willing to help and answer any questions you might have. Would certainly stay again next time in Paris.

This is a fantastic hotel with a rare feature in this city: Friendliest staff, always willing to help and make life lovely in the City of Light. The rooms are spacious, very well decorated and pleasant. Villa Brunel is very well situated close to the Palais des Congrés and Arc de Triomphe and the the Air France bus stop. Also close to the hotel are several restaurants and brasseries worth for dinner.

Room Tip: Twin superior rooms are very spacious if you need to work

The Villa Brunel is very nicely located (a few minutes from the Metro 1, which takes you directly to the Shopping at Champs Elisees, to the Louvre, etc.). It was obviously renovated recently and is very nice, clean well kept. The bed was excellent. The bathroom (esp. the shower) much more spacious than in my previous hotel in Paris! The street is a one-way street and thus rather quiet. The windows are well insulated and there is an air condition. I only had a quick look at the breakfast buffet which had only limited choice... with that money you can get great food at the bakery down the street. I booked on-line and the room was nearly half the price than written in the hotel, so definitely a great value! Would be delighted to stay there again!
