“Third time is a charm (still!)”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

Ah, to be in Paris in the fall – and to stay at Bed & Breakfast Bouchardon, who could be luckier? As this has become our home away from home while in Paris (this is our third stay at BBB) we have become to feel like locals.

We are not sure what the best part of BBB is. Is it the warm and friendly welcome given by the hosts? Is it the high quality of the room with all the attention to detail? (look at the guestbook photos on their website – Jozsef always creates some theme to make the ordinary extraordinary) Is it the wonderful breakfast and conversations in the mornings? Is it the feeling that you are a part of Paris rather than just a visitor? In any case, BBB remains a charm for the priveledged few who can book a stay.

Not only through the attention of the two hosts, but if you really observe the surroundings your stay in Paris becomes much more personal. It starts upon entering through the big carriage doors, passing the mailboxes and into the courtyard, where you are delighted to glimpse a part of Paris not seen from a hotel room. The history of the place can be read through the architecture. (Inside BBB if you look closely at the floorboards in the guestroom you can read where once a fireplace would have stood)

Sit at the corner café, Le Réveil du 10eme, for a glass of wine and watch the unfolding stories: enjoy the children boisterously playing after school, admire the local firemen arranging and rearranging their equipment, eavesdrop on the conversation of the people seated next to you on the warmed terrace, and enviously look at the shopping bags full of enticing produce from the covererd market Marché St. Martin as they head home to become a lovely meal.

Yes we visited the museums, parks and much, much more, but honestly, framing the sightseeing with breakfast at BBB and those late afternoons on “our” neighbourhood café terrace were just as rewarding if not more.

BBB is so much more than just an extremely comfortable place to stay, it is a wonderful opportunity to experience Paris on a personal level. We hope it never changes.

We stayed for four nights and enjoyed our stay immensely. Jozsef and Frédéric were great hosts and in addition to the fantastic breakfast gave us all the guidance we needed to fully experience Paris. They even broke out the champagne to help us celebrate a birthday. If you want to fully experience Paris as a local, this is the way to go.

Room Tip: Just one room with its own bathroom.

One day, sincere guests of BBB (that has just one single guestroom !) might rate us with a deserved 3 or may be even 2 star review, however ... today it saddens us that this 4 star comment is published in our list because the person who wrote this evaluation never stayed in our B&B nor ever contacted us ...

isn't it strange that a reviewer recommending here "our very nice place" and "putting BBB in his/her top list" totally ignores the TA messages sent by us - the owners of BBB - who supposedly welcomed him/her for at least 3 mornings at our breakfast table !! ... after such proximity and enthusiasm why the silence ??

dear TA readers, if you too are intrigued, may be you have more luck obtaining a response from Liviobus ! ... meanwhile, please know that we always thank with an email - privately !! - our true guests who review us here on TA !

My second time at BBB-Paris, and they do keep the high level I remembered from last time.
In every detail you feel welcome, the contact before you arrive and the preparation of the
room, that is small, but soooo nice, clean and it has everything you need.
Jozsef´s breakfast is a true pice of art, and to sit and talk (if you want) is a perfect start
of the day.

Jozsef was my very first contact, and our very first stay, with a bed and breakfast stay. His emails were helpful and informative, and I felt like I had a friend in Paris even before meeting him!

There may only be one room available, but its just wonderful, and so tastefully decorated. We have stayed in some amazing 5 star hotel rooms but even though this room is small its been so well planned you don't notice. It was like having our own romantic hideaway.

Nothing was too hard for Jozsef and Frederic. Written notes/directions for the underground, a booklet of maps with restaurant suggestions, breakfasts fit for a king, and even a cooler bag with an ice pack as Joszef picked up on our comment of preferring to drink really cold water.

My husband is a man of few words but he was so impressed with everything that he was compelled to write a thankyou email on our departure.

Room Tip: Book well in advance! Its worth it!

Paris was our last stop in Europe of a 7 week holiday before heading to Dubai then home. Whilst I was excited to see Paris in all its glory - I was especially looking forward to staying here.

Having read many of the previous reviews on BBB, we were expecting a lot and this place did not let us down.

My husband and I arrived on a Saturday to drop our bags off before dropping off the rental car, we caught some traffic driving up from Epernay so arrived a little later than we had hoped which left us a little strapped for time - so I can only imagine how I looked when I arrived at their front door with 2 large luggages and 4 other bags of things we had accumulated over our holiday.

They were quick to sort out our luggage, while helping me find the correct location for our car drop off and in the meantime calling up Moulin Rouge to confirm we could use the tickets from the iPhone as opposed to printed tickets. I have to say in the first 10 mins of my arrival... I felt like both Jozsef and Frederic were a God send!

Finally we dropped our car off and made our way back to the apartment where we were sat down with Frederic and he went over some things that were extremely helpful to us over the next three days. Places to see, best way to catch the train, how to save money on the tickets and great shopping suggestions and places to eat.

The location of the apartment is perfect - central to most things and an easy walk to the train station. They also provide you with a little booklet with maps based on the areas and it includes great little tips on where to eat - we tried a couple of places suggested and they were excellent!

The room - whilst they insist is small - is more than comfortable for two people and a lot of thought has gone into the space saving design of the room and bathroom, which is also evident throught the rest of their apartment (which is just beautiful by the way).

The bathroom was actually larger than some others that we had encountered along our holiday but was extremely clean and the shower had perfect pressure.

Breakfast was a feast in the morning! There was always some fresh fruit and cheese or cold meats and it was just devine. I was sure that Jozsef thought I was a little piglet cause I couldn't stop eating everything!

It was also lovely that on our first morning breakfast both Jozsef and Frederic were able to sit and have a coffee with us and make some suggestions on what to do for the day. They are both funny, charming and intelligent and made us feel extremely welcome in their home. We didn't feel like we were intruding and felt like we had known them for ages.

The icing on the cake was when they offered the room for us to use until our early evening departure - granted no-one was booked in until two days later but they didn't have to offer it to us.

I would highly recommend BBB to anyone looking for a great stay where you feel welcome, the breakfasts are amazing, the bed is super comfortable and the place is clean.

We will return to Paris and when we do, we will stay here again no doubt.

Thanks again to Jozsef and Frederic for making our stay in Paris one that we will boast about for years to come!

You should absolutely believe all wonderful reviews of B&B Bouchardon. What makes this B&B so special and fantastic is Frederic and Jozsef. They are the most wonderful couple you could ever meet.....kind, charming, funny, and so welcoming. We felt so lucky to be able to stay in such a beautifully decorated home which is also very comfortable and inviting. Their advice on what to see, where to eat and shop were invaluable to us. We prefer small, lesser known museums and without their recommendations I am sure we would have never found them on our own.

We felt the location was perfect. Close to many things but yet on a quiet street. All the sites you may want want to visit were either a metro ride away or if you like to walk like we do you, many could be reached by walking if you wished to do so. There were many good restaurants literally right outside the door of the B&B, or within an easy 10 minute walk as well.

Like the rest of the apartment, our room and bathroom were beautifully appointed in a soothing color palette with a very comfortable bed and oh so soft bed linens and good pillows. Again, the bathroom (and bedroom) were spotlessly clean. Nice fluffy towels and any personal products you may need (shampoo, lotion, etc.) and a great shower too. You could tell that there was so much thought put into the space for your personal comfort. No detail large or small was overlooked. In fact, we found ourselves wanting to sleep in quite often.

What did make us want to wake from our slumber each morning was knowing what awaited us in the kitchen. Breakfast! Each morning Jozsef prepared a feast for the eyes and for our stomach. I happen to love fruit so each morning I couldn't wait to see what work of art had been created. The table was set so superbly and with everything you could want...croissants, variety of breads/biscuits, yogurt, jams, honeys, variety of cheeses and meats, juices and coffee. It was our favorite meal of the day.

In closing I would like to say that our holiday to Paris was made that much more wonderful because of our stay at B&B Bouchardon and knowing Frederic and Jozsef. We really enjoyed our time with them and the great conversations that we had. I felt that we arrived as guests but left as friends.

A bientôt.
