This place is really charming, at least as much as are the people inside! Located in a very cool Parisian disctrict - it is very easy to reach it by the metro or even by car (parking under St Germain Market). The food is always very good, respectful of the fresh products (I remember some remarkable scallops we all have appreciated). The table are small, so it is enventually quiet friendly. You can see the kitchen from the room, which means the cooking is really fresh and they are confident in they cooking skills! Do not miss to have a drink beside at 'La compagnie des vons', a very cosy place for romantic, business or even friends. So guys, I go now, I have a reservation at Pouic Pouic for tonight!

As others have mentioned, we read the New York Times review of this restaurant and made a reservation as a result of that article. There were a number of Americans there the evening we were there, so I imagine they read the review as well.

Although the ingredients in the dishes we had tasted fresh, everything seemed to lack flavor. For starters we had a vegetable millefleur, which consisted mainly of eggplant and a puff pastry with seafood. For entrees we had pork cheeks and risotto with calamari. The risotto and calamari was very odd. It was risotto and on top of it was fried calamari. The calamari, which was quite tough, seemed like an afterthought to the dish. I was expecting the calamari to have been integrated in to the risotto. It was tasteless and boring. We did not order dessert since we were disappointed with our food.

Perhaps we hit an off night or ordered the wrong dishes, but based on what we had to eat, I would not recommend this restaurant. The staff was friendly and the service was very good, however.

Before leaving for our Paris trip my husband and I read a rave review of Pouic-Pouic, a bistro near Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The article described the restaurant as a little bistro virtually unknown by tourists. That was not the case. The restaurant was so overrun by screaming tourists (and Parisians) that we could not wait to leave. The food was standard bistro fare, nothing to go out of your way to try. It was certainly not "magic" as described by the N.Y. Times.

I dined alone at Pouic Pouic last week because of an article I'd read in the New York Times. It is a charming restaurant, well located in the sixth arrondissement. The owner and staff were very welcoming, the food was excellent (a feuillete de legumes was particularly good) and the prices were decent.

Ate outside on the sidewalk in early October. A very pleasant bistro with a focus on meats and typical provincial French fare. We managed a table as walk-ins but reservations are recommended. Good reasonable wine list. In a neighborhood with dozens of good restaurants, this one also earns its status as a worthwhile choice in this area.
