Owner description: L’Aquarium de Paris, also named Cinéaqua, is an aquarium located under the hill of Chaillot between the Trocadero and the Seine in Paris, in the 16th district. 50 basins, 2500 jellyfish, 10,000 fish, 750 coral colonies. The largest shark tank in France (3,000,000 L of water and 38 great sharks)

The acquarium was one of the places we could visit with our Paris Pass and our adult children (no option to choose that on the review page) wanted to go....so we did. It was a somewhat warm day, so it was nice to be in out of the heat. We were quite entertained with the multiple varieties of fish. Unfortunately, the presentation you can sit and watch was only in French, so we did not stay for that. Being able to walk through a glass tunnel in the center of the shark tank was quite interesting. I think the hammerhead shark was our favorite.

Built in 1867, the Aquarium de Paris is the first aquarium built in the world. It is located between the Trocadéro and the Seine and the tour extends for 3500m² under the ground. It has a tank dedicated to the Polynesian ecosystem containing 750 corals and a large basin inhabited by 38 sharks of seven different species. Negative point is the purchase of tickets online (20.50€ each and we were 4): at the entrance the hostess had no system to verify that we had bought them. She gave us the email address of the reception and we had to send an email with our digital tickets. Only after they have received them they let us in.

This isn’t too far from the Eiffel Tower. If your on the open tour buses you get a discount voucher for this place where you buy 1 adult another adult or child goes free. It’s lovely the only downsize to visiting here, is that it doesn’t take you long to walk round it. My husband and I were it only took about 30mins to walk around the aquarium. The gift shop has some stuff but doesn’t seem to stock a lot of items, and at the time they didn’t have any change in 3 tills at all, so it was a waiting game to get your change of you happen to buy something. The staff weren’t very helpful at all.

Not the best aquarium we have been in ( that would be Dubai ) but certainly worth a visit.
Reasonable entry fee (15 euro if you pick up a 5 euro discount voucher)
Very clean tanks with happy looking fish. Nothing out of the ordinary but a nice collection of jellyfish.
Well laid out route. Nothing worth buying in the gift shop though

Fantastic location (up the road from the Eiffel Tower). Friendly service (Spoke good English). Lift access for buggies and wheelchairs. Some amazing fish and creatures I've not seen in aquariums before. Very child friendly. Shark tunnel! I would highly recommend purchasing your tickets online and printing them off as this will save you around 1 hour waiting in line.
