The review for this dinner would have been much better before our dessert fiasco. The restaurant is lovely, located within walking distance of our hotel, La Villa Maillot. The service is different than any we'd had in France. The waiters were swarming and we had several waiting on our table at once....very energetic. My husbands filet of sole was one of his favorite meals on our trip. Then i ordered dessert...the grand mariner crepe. This is a Paris Bistro so this should have been simple.
The waiter brought the crepe and the sauce was in a small server. He told me to wait and took several minutes to come back. When he returned,he poured the grand mariner over the crepe and tried to light it with a mini BIC lighter. This did not work so a second waiter tried by pouring more grand mariner over the crepe and trying to light it with a different mini lighter, still didn't work. The head waiter was called over and he poured more GM over the poor soaked crepe and started to light with another BIC! At this point we called the meal over and got our check. I'm not sure the proper way to flambé a crepe but I KNOW a disposable mini lighter is not the way. To bad, a great dinner was ruined by an amateur dessert! It's Paris, this should have been piece of cake.
