Hotel is clean, modern and comfortable with plenty of patisseries and brasseries within short walking distance. Rooms are big for Paris, with a TV with a wide selection of channels in different languages (you have to flick around to find them as only a selection are listed on the in room guide). Bathroom was also spacious with good shower – no heater in here though so bathroom was a little chilly but soon warmed up when shower came on.
It was minus temperatures the weekend we were in Paris but the thermostat in the bedroom meant we were very warm. There was also a good selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate which were ideal after a day walking around in the cold.
Staff were friendly and there was always someone on reception to help with any queries. Only criticism is that housekeeping didn’t replace drinks however when we went to reception there was a good selection available to choose from to take back up to the room. Also, one of our towels was taken away and we were only left with one. Not a major issue as occasionally these things happen!
Free wifi available in rooms with code from reception, and breakfast available for a fee. We didn’t eat breakfast though as there were plenty of patisseries, a McCafe (don’t mock it until you’ve tried a hot choc and fresh baked croissant!) and a street market on the Sunday morning which were all good value for money. There is also a Carrefour super market 5 minutes walk away (closed on Sundays).
Hotel is located a good 10 minute walk from 2 metro stations. We used convention and found we could get anywhere in Paris incredibly easily. Gare du Nord was about 40 minutes away and all other main attractions varied from 10 – 30 minute metro ride.
Overall I would recommend the hotel if you are looking for an affordable, clean and comfortable place to base yourself that is a good alternative to a Travelodge, Premier Inn etc. Although slightly out of the town centre everything is very accessible and there are some lovely restaurants and brasseries around which we found far better value and taste than the tourist fair in the centre of the city. There were also an excellent selection of cheese, wine and local produce shops, which made it feel like we were seeing the true Paris and not just the tourist side.
When we next return to Paris we would look to stay here again. Only thing to bear in mind is it is a good 10 min walk to metro station so make sure you’ve got layers and waterproofs if it’s cold or raining!
