I booked this trip for my husband's birthday. He is a keen cook whereas I am not that good! The people with us that day on the course were from America, Canada, Australia and China but all with a common interest to learn about French cusine. The course was informative, fun, not at all intimidating for me and a great way to spend a day in Paris. Only pity was having to rush our lunch a bit to make way for the next class as we had got so carried away! The team at La Cusine were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The only minor thing would be if they could follow up with emailing of the recipes that we made that day, as promised. Would thoroughly recommend though.

Bonjour KenJ
We are so pleased to have been a part of your husband's birthday celebrations - and we hope that you had the most memorable time in Paris! It is always lovely to have an international crowd with us - we ourselves learn from our clients, it is refreshing to see what culinary traditions and habits each of them bring from their own country's and experiences. Please do not hesitate to email us directly if there is a specif dish you wanted to get the recipe for - we will be happy to send it to you! Keep cooking back home and let us know what you are up to!

my daughter (14) & I decided to embark on a "Macaron" class while my husband & son were off on a "French Revolution" walking tour and I'm so glad we did! Our instructor was "Chef G"(Guillemette) who was amazing!! spoke english
very well (if that is a concern for some people) she was very friendly, patient.. the class was small (9ppl) & cannot believe how much we actually learned( and loads of FUN!!) , a 2hr class turned into almost 3hrs( because we were asking alot of questions & chatting) who knew that there was a "French" & "Italian" way to make meringue?(not me!)Thank you again Chef "G" for a lovely afternoon..money well spent. can't wait to return to embark on more classes...

Bonjour Coco45!
Thank you for making us a part of your Paris experience! It sounds like the entire family got to enjoy a bit of French history - with your Husband and son enjoying a bit of French Revolution history, and you and your daughter enjoying a bit of culinary history spending an afternoon making French macarons! We are so glad you enjoyed it, and hope the rest of the family got to taste your hard work....be sure to give them a try at home and let us know how they turn out!

I had the opportunity to attend three different la Cuisine paris venues while recently assigned for three months in Paris. While there I had a stream of friends and family visitors - the highlight for three of them and me were the unique la cuisine Paris experiences we had. I have recommended to other friends and colleagues who have had equally great experiences.

My sister-in-law suggested the first venue after some on line research. It was the Thursday afternoon Bellies on Foot walk in the old markets near Les Halles. It ends with a return to base to eat what we selected together (foie gras we chose and charcuterie, goat, sheep and cow cheese, bread and pastries) and to drink the spoils. It was a freezing day in February but our guide was so interesting to us first time visitors to that area that we were oblivious to the frost bite in our feet. We had great opportunities to duck into the shops for temporary warmth and learning alot about food lure and customs. And it made the tastings that much more enjoyable. For an overview of French food and food market history, customs and great tastings this is a recommended entree venue.

The next two things we did involved actual cooking classes. The first was the Saturday morning Marche Maubert French market class. It involved a one hour marche market excursion in the 5th followed by a walk for the lefft bank across Cite and Luis islands to the school. I did this with my 82 year old mother who loved every minute and was totally into the choosing of the food at the market (fish, vegetables, etc) and the preparation particularly the apple tartin...as was I.

The last was a class with a friend from Denmark - the two hour easier macaroon making class. We had Diane who was a drill sargeant to get us through it in two hours - very efficient and we cranked out delicious and incredible looking macaroons. It is important to make a good filling properly flavored (ours were "so so") but the art of doing these was well worth learning...even though I have not yet tried it at home. This one we had to reserve early. Again, we loved every minute!

The title of this class is an understatement. Being that I cook and my wife bakes we decided to take the class as a team, and we were glad we did. La cuisine has developed a very in depth program with all the info and techniques required to make these wonderful cookies at home.
They reminded us before we left to try making them at home within a week or so, while everything was still fresh in our minds. So we did, and our first attempt back on US soil was close but not a success. So we adjusted a few things and our second attempt was spot on they rivaled the macaroons we had purchased from a historic Parisiene maker of macaroons.
That being said without the insite that this class provided it would have taken many more attempts and who knows if we would have ever perfected them.
Thanks to La Cuisene we can recreate our memories whenever we like.
They sure beat looking at snapshots.

Bonjour Jim and Kristen!
You make the perfect team - cuisine and pastries! We are over the moon to see that you have been baking up a storm at home - and as you see, practice does make perfect with these little things - so keep at it, and keep the photos coming! Thanks so much for sharing your comments, we are please that you found the class useful - and when you open a Macaron shop in your town, we want to be the first to know! =)

This was an awesome experience that was really good fun and was probably the best thing we did on our trip. The chef who took the class was very knowledgeable as well as being happy to answer all our questions. I hope to go back again soon to take the advanced macaron class.
