“Not So Great - Not Recommended”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

We recently had dinner at this restaurant in Paris - we found the food to be mediocre and the prices too high. In particular though, the proprietors and/or staff were not friendly or helpful at all. This restaurant was only a couple of blocks away from our hotel so it would have been very convenient BUT we would not return after the initial visit. Particularly disturbing was the staff reaction to a customer who was feeling very sick - they avoided her like the plague and were of NO assistance whatsoever.

We had full menu dinners but were not satisfied with any of the dishes = including the poire digestif. I wish I could recall what I ordered but it was rather unnoteworthy.

Staff were friendly and didn't mind my bad French. Good atmosphere and the food was well prepared and reasonably priced.

“Excellent way to end the day!”

Wonderful onion soup! The desserts were to die for and the service was friendly and helpful! The hot chocolate cake with homemade pistachio ice cream was the best we've ever had.

“Couldn't rate it higher”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

We'd been to see the Eiffel Tower, as you do. The nights were light until 10pm + so we were cutting it fine for a nice dinner on our last Saturday night in paris. We finally arrived at the Juveniles, our original restaurant of choice, only to be told, much to our disappointment, vins only. So we popped next door, to Bistro Richelieu. Greeted with a smile, we were seated, chose our meals and wine, and what followed was just plain marvellous. No Michelin Stars to speak of but who cares. My farm-bred chicken was excellent to say the least, and Karen's duck was, as she put it, perfect. Every restaurant has its good and bad nights. For us, it just happened to be Bistro Richelieu's best, in our opinion.

“A Great Parisian Dining Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

We found Bistrot Richelieu on the recommendation of our hotel concierge, and we we glad that they steered us there!

The initial impression upon walking in was one of welcoming. The interior is comforting and cozy, with only one other table occupied at 7.30pm (It was packed by the time we left so if you plan on eating between 8-9pm, get a reservation.

The prices were on par with about any other Parisian meal. The service was excellent.

We started our meal with the French Onion Soup and the Escargot, and both were superb. Truly the best onion soup we have ever had, it almost made me wish is was colder outside to fully embrace the experience. The escargot was perfect (Served in half dozen and dozen sized portions). A harmonious mix of garlic, olive oil, and basil made us wish we had gotten the full dozen portion.

Our main course was the Duck Leg in confit and the steak tartare. The duck was falling off the bone and tasted excellent. The tartare was savory and delicious, with all the flavors and creamy texture you expect out of a well crafted dish. Our son (3) enjoyed his spaghetti in a bolonaise meat sauce. If we had one criticism, it would be that the l'enfant meals cost as much as any other entree.

The deserts were delectable and decadent, finishing the meal with a creme brûlée and chocolate cake.

Run, don't walk, to the the Bistrot Richelieu, and have no reservations when it comes to your dining experience there!
