This is a very late review of our stay at the Hotel Gramont Opera in June. We stayed at the hotel for 10 days, in the large duplex room on the top floor. This was a gorgeous room, with a small sitting and storage area on the lower level and the sleeping area, bathroom and small outdoor terrace on the upper level. Both levels had opening windows and very efficient air-conditioning. I'm sure there is heating as well, but we didn't need that in Paris in the summer! The all-important (free) wi-fi worked brilliantly as well.
The hotel is perfectly located close to 3 metro stations and only minutes away from a major shopping/restaurant boulevard (Boulevard des Italiens). From the hotel you can walk to many major tourist sites, including the Louvre, the Opera and the Place de la Concorde, or take the metro. One warm evening we walked all the way from the Arc de Triomphe to the hotel, along the Champs-Elysees - although it took nearly 2 hours, so I don't necessarily recommend that!
The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly and speak perfect English. Even before we arrived, they had helped us out, when we asked them via email to confirm an evening sight-seeing tour for the day of our arrival. They were great at providing directions and recommendations, and making bookings on our behalf.
This is a 3-star hotel, so despite its many positives, there are a few things that people should be aware of. The duplex room (which we loved) is on the 6th floor, but the elevator only goes to the 5th floor, so you'll need to carry your bags up a flight of stairs. The elevator itself seems quite old and has a mind of its own - it became a bit of a game for us to guess how long it would take to arrive and then how long it would take for the doors to close and get moving! The bathroom, while perfectly clean, was a bit dated and we couldn't get very good water pressure from the shower. The outdoor terrace is quite small and there's no view (except of the buildings across the street) but it was still lovely to sit out there on a warm evening and just watch the clouds and listen to the sounds of the city.
For us, these were only small issues and in no way detracted from our overall positive experience. We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would certainly stay there again.
