Description: Bistrot Mavrommatis is a new restaurant in the business district of La Madelaine in Paris. It is part of the Mavrommatis empire, this Greek family already have 3 other very good restaurants in the French capital. The chef is from Grenada and the influences can be seen and tasted in the food. There is a great tapas menu from the tapas bar in the downstairs area. The restaurant has a calmer atmosphere for proper sit down meals. The dcor is immaculate and pristine, functional but pleasant. The menu has dishes from all over the Mediterranean from Greek moussaka to Spanish, Italian and Cypriot dishes.

Real Greek food. We had lunch on this beautiful restaurant, on the second floor. Decorated with beautiful lime green accent walls and old photographs, this establishment very pleasing to the eye. Calm and classy. The menu offers a variety of dishes, and to start we ordered something like a Bento platter, with different kinds of appetizers and sauces. I loved the ktipiti sauce, it is delicate and different, it could make anything taste great. Then I ordered a dish with shrimp and octopus, with vegetables and sauces. One of the best octopus dishes I've ever had. My sister had spanakopita and aubergine. We all enjoyed the dishes and the house red wine which was excellent too. To finish I had to have my favorite dessert: authentic baklava; as everything else, it was awesome. Great restaurant, wonderful service, the waiter even gave me the recipe for the ktipiti.

I lived in Greece for 12 years so I think I am a fair judge of Greek cuisine. Forget about those pokey Greek restaurants on the left bank which serve look-a-like Greek food where the waiter stands outside trying to entice you Inside. This restaurant is located on the right bank, near the Madeleine Church. The entrance is by way of the delicatessen takeaway on the ground floor, so you have to manœuvre your way through the milling crowd of office staff queueing up for the delicious looking salads to climb the stairs up to the first floor where ample seating is available (but better to reserve). This was my second visit in a year and I can't wait to eat there again next time in Paris. The food is just wonderful - the flavours are exquisite, you just have to stop and wonder how they do it. I have rarely eaten so well in Athens. There is a wide variety of mezze (typical Greek appetisers) ordered separately or in one fell swoop - a generous portion of everything. Main dishes are those we all know and love as in moussaka and stuffed vegetables, stuffed aubergines, minced lamb meatballs, slow roast pork and lamb stew with shallots. There is one fish dish. Feta cheese, Greek yoghurt with honey and nuts and other oriental delights are in store for dessert. The wines are Greek and can be ordered by the glass. The prices are normal for Paris, don't expect to pay less than 30 euros per person for a 3 course lunch à la carte (without wine) . But, if you like Greek food or want to try it out, don't go anywhere else!
