“Not worth it anymore”
Reviewed January 16, 2014

I have known La Tartine for over 30 years, and went there countless times.
I am a parisian, and now I live abroad.
I came back recently a couple of times and was very disappointed at what it has becomes.
Very low choice of wines (and the same "specials" every time), disappointing cheese plate (you can buy those cheese at your local supermarket), and the last time I went, very unfriendly staff, in the pure "Parisian style".
This place used to be unique and out of the ordinary, but those days are gone...
From what I saw around, it has become popular with tourists, which means lower quality and attention, since many are one-time customers, who anyway will see the place as a typical Paris bistro.
I will miss La Tartine as I used to know it, but I am sure better alternatives can be found.

“Excellent local bistro”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

Ate here multiple times on a recent rip. Very friendly service with very good value - for Paris. Food prepared as ordered in sufficient quantity and quality to have leftovers to take back to your apartment. Would highly recommend for repeat visits.

“What a dissapointment . . .”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

They call themselves a wine bar but seem to be more of a time honored neighborhood bistro. We had the good fortune of eating here on three previous visits to Paris a year apart. We had had one dinner there in the past which was adequate but nothing really special, however, their salads at lunch time were among the best anyplace--especially the Nicoise, Nordic and Italian. We would have lunch there multiple times on each visit but did not on this trip.
Our dinner was anything but good . . . perhaps because it was a Sunday evening. Out of stuff??? Short of help??? One of us had a duck breast which was large and tender but tasteless; the other tried to enjoy a purported rump roast but couldn't. The atmosphere in the back of the restaurant is a tad above that of a nice coffee shop (the open-air seating in the front is far preferable but not on a cold and rainy night). Our service was lackluster at best. We are very grateful about two aspects of this experience: 1) that we didn't save it until the last night of our wonderful two weeks in France and 2) that my raincoat was still there waiting for me after a walk to and from our apartment. We'd still take a chance on a daytime salad if in the mood on a return visit--they were such pleasant memories.

“Classic bistro with great french food, great value and great service”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We had a very enjoyable dinner that included some classic french dishes such as breast of duck, white fish in beurre blanc sauce, steak tartare. The dishes were excellent and we found it to be good value at approx 15 euros for each main course. The wine list is small but has a decent selection and prices are reasonable. The Bistro is simple, not fancy and yet classic style. Service was very friendly. Overall an excellent casual dinner out.

“Great neighborhood restaurant”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

The apartment we are renting is around the corner from this restaurant. I have walked past it many times and noticed the good food people seemed to be eating. Today we ventured in to sample the menu for ourselves. The food was very good. There is a nice selection. They use Poilane bread in some of their dishes which I love. The prices are reasonable. The restaurant was packed with what seemed to be locals....always a good sign. The ambiance is everything you would want in a neighborhood bistro.

In addition to the wonderful menu what really stood out was the excellent service. One of the managers went above and beyond to make sure the guests were comfortable and happy. He noticed we didn't eat all of our French onion soup and checked with us to\make sure that everything was ok with our dish. His English wasn't that great but he was able to communicate his care and concern clearly.
