“Good enough if you're on a budget”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

I stayed here with two friends for 3 nights. We were lucky enough to get a room with a nice view and plenty of light, but I'm not sure if all the rooms have that. The hotel is old and not super clean, but it's comfortable enough if you're traveling in a budget.

No elevator
Location is good and central to public transit - plenty of cafés and shops nearby
Staff spoke very little English
Internet went in and out in the rooms but worked most of the time
The desk didn't have any tourist maps which I thought was strange

We travelled all over Europe for 2 months and this is the worst place we have been to. I'm not even fussy about size of the room but cleanliness is something I'm particular about. Some of the B&B's we've been in are far better. The room smelled like cigarettes and was very filthy. Even if you open the window, the cigarette smell did not go away which means that they frequently get smokers in the rooms. The receptionist/owners don't care if you smoke inside the hotel as this is the only hotel we've been in where we were not asked whether we smoked or not. As for the filthiness, I think they placed new bed sheets when we arrived but they put a cover on the bed (that red thing that you see on the pictures) that wasn't washed and was stinking so the sheets stinked as well. I took it off and put it on the shelves but the cleaners kept putting it on the bed which was annoying. Everything about the hotel was filthy. As for the location, when reviewers say it's "central", it is actually very misleading. It is near one of the train station but is not very near many of the attractions. And it is in a very dirty area as well. Besides, from our long trip in Europe, we realize that very often, non-central accommodation are better and one does not have to necessarily worry about travelling because most places in Europe are well connected by tram, metro or buses. You can find some other better option elsewhere for almost the same price or just a bit more.

Close to underground station. Staff were friendly and polite. Room was small, good enough for a couple of nights only. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom door didn't even close and there was no fan in there either. Only one chair in the room and a small desk, so you couldn't really eat meals in there. Wi fi didn't work, even though we were told they had good wi fi connection.

Located in a fantastic area, full of small bars, cafes, restaurants and a vibrant African-French flavour. Hotel is clean enough and the rooms are big enough, staff are friendly enough and its next to a police station for safety. But nothing spectacular stands out. If youre ony going to use the room for sleeping, then it is definitely worth a stay, but if you want to be spending a lt of time in your room, in comfort, think about raising your budget and consider looking else where
