Wonderful ambience in a traditional setting of 1940 - 50's France. Beautiful inside, but the food - amazing. Staff excellent!

We were due to go to Les Noces de Jeannette, but they told us they close at 9.30 p.m., far too early for Paris! We went on spec to the Bistrot de l'Opera Comique, opposite and had a great evening. The food is good - unusually, for example, they have 'tartare de couteaux' or razor shells. The first time we went there, my friend had souris d'agneau, which he likes and it was good. I had steak tartare, excellent. Good wine too and a very reasonable bill for the two of us. Second time, we both had fish, he had the bass and I had the turbot. Both were good, but the bass was better. I would happily return to this restaurant at any time. Reasonable price and good service ... Yes, 4 out of 5.

The restaurant has a very pretty, traditional dining room with lots of red velvet and dark wood. The food was tasty and well seasoned although portions were small. The service was very disappointing. There were 3 waitresses who seemed more interested in chatting at the bus station than taking care of the clients. We regularly had to wave them over for bread, drinks, follow up on a side order that wasn't delivered... Almost as if we were disturbing them. It made for an overall unpleasant experience despite the good food.

We were lucky to get a very nice table by the window. The atmosphere was very nice , though it was getting a bit crowded later on. Service was very good and unobtrusive. As a starter we had the duo of foie gras, which was superb. The cote de boef was done perfectly with baby beans and French fries and two fine sauces. The fish my wife had was also very good. We just had two glasses of a lovely Rhone wine, which was very reasonably priced. It was a perfect dinner for us.

We had lunch here in December with a friend . The service was great and careful. The food was very good especially for the price proposed which is exceptional in Paris. 100% recommended.
