We booked a private tour with Aeon Tours in Paris for our family.

We were too late to book a front of line access tour with other companies so instead booked this one.

We asked in advance if the tour guide could stand in line for us to avoid waiting and he did which was great. Miguel (our tour guide) stood in line for us for about an hour to avoid us waiting in the queues and he called us on the mobile so we could meet him fairly close to the entrance. We only had to wait about 15 minutes until the Catacombs opened that day (opening about 10.00am).

Before the tour we got excellent instructions about the meeting place, and all worked well.

Miguel was excellent as our guide – he was very knowledgeable and informative. He also added quite a bit of humour to the tour.

The Catacombs are a really interesting place to visit – but not if you suffer from anxiety or claustrophobia. The tunnels are a long way below ground but there is good lighting and free flowing air so it’s not too uncomfortable.

Miguel shared a lot of historical information with us and obviously knows the Catacombs and their history very well.

We can recommend Aeon tours for this – the tour took about 1 ½ hours. Tip – wear covered shoes as it can be wet and slippery.
Only 200 people are allowed in at a time, to control crowds. The entry fee is 8 euro and you purchase your ticket at the entrance.

Would recommend you do a morning tour as the line was very long by the time we finished (unless you arrange front of line access).

Tomas from Aeon Tours was very helpful on-line whilst I was booking this from Australia.
I can thoroughly recommend them.

We had visited Paris for the week and took the Aeon Catacombs tour, must say we loved it. Kosine (I think his first name was Cal), our guild was descriptive in his explanations and really told us a lot of the history behind the reason for the catacombs and a lot of history about Paris and its culture our kids were very delighted to be there and he really made the tour something exciting for them, which is why we went. The catacombs are an interesting place to be and it takes some nerve to be there, so to feel so delighted by such a charismatic guild was a plus! I wouldn't want to go it alone!

My tour with Aeon was fabulous. Our guide (can't for the life of me recall his name) was top-notch. Kept things moving along, was very lively, and full of history regarding the Catacombs. He also gave us a great recommendation for dinner that evening (lovely Italian spot in the Latin Quarter). All in all, a 10 out of 10.

We had booked a catacombs tour with Aeon tours and were led to believe that by booking a guided tour, we would "skip the long queue" - in fact these are the exact words used on the website. However, after meeting up with our guide, he walked us over to the queue and had us wait in line with everyone else. Why did I pay extra to stand in line? Oh yea, I was going to get an informative tour of the Catacombs - that was the thought that kept me from becoming too upset about paying 39 Euros to stand in line for 1 hour and 15 minutes. However, our guided tour was poorly done with little information added to the what I had already picked up from the tour website. Our guide rarely stayed at any spot long enough to allow photos and while he offered to take a picture of us, he in fact only did that for one couple in the group. We think he had to get back to his apartment to plan a lunch party. We were totally unsatisfied with this tour - sounds like it may have been worth it if Miguel was the guide, but Callaway certainly didn't give us our money's worth.

Booked catacombs tour online with no problems. Confirmation email said we would receive a further email with instructions on meeting. It did say we would meet near the metro so we knew that. Sent several emails for which there was no reply. Fortunately we found one of the guides ourself. Apart from this our male guide had little to tell us other than everything is cool that he pointed out. Save your money and do it yourself - total waste of money.
