Definitely not a palace.Hotel is reasonably clean . Staff friendly.
Close to st. Pierre fabric shopping area.
No lift and steep windy stairs .
Price was reasonable but found better one with a lift next door .

This hotel has a very good location. It is walking distance from Sacre Coer Cathedral. It is also very near the Metro (subway train) station Anvers. The place is also a station away from Moulin Rouge which is another tourist attraction. This place only serves free breakfast. They don't sell food for lunch or dinner. Across the street is McDonalds and a kebab place, that can serve your food needs up until late at night. they have free wifi in this hotel. The only thing that lacks in terms of facilities is an elevator. We were placed on the 5th floor. You can just imagine how we brought up and down our luggages. There are also shops nearby to buy your souvenirs at a cheaper price compared to where they sell it at tourist spots. The room doesn't have any airconditioners or heater. It's a good thing that the weather was a bit cold at night coz during the day, the rooms were so warm. we had to open all the windows to get some air. The bathroom is clean and has hot water.
This is probably great for a group of friends travelling together to have fun and adventure. This can be used for an amazing race accommodation where there's also challenges while staying there.

Room Tip: stay at a lower floor since there is no elevator

This hostel is really good if you're simply looking for a bed for the night and nothing more. The entrance is a small brown door and relatively hidden away from the main street but don't let that put you off. We only stayed for one night and didn't really have the opportunity to use many of the hostel's facilities but it was exactly what we were looking for. It's about a 5-10minute walk from Paris Gare du Nord station and there are plenty of local bars/eateries in the area; for a start, the hostel is right next-door to a bakery and across the road is a McDonalds. I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for a romantic holiday, but it's a perfect stop off for backpackers. Our room was relatively small, but still it had a sink w/ mirror, table/chair, wardrobe and towels were provided (more than what we expected for what we paid). There are shower/toilet facilities on each floor shared between 4 or 5 rooms, and they weren't luxurious, but functional and clean. The WiFi was very good even on the fifth floor; you can get a password from reception. The staff were really friendly/helpful and talked enough English for us to be able to understand each other. There are quite a few floors and I didn't notice a lift so if you have heavy bags, prepare to climb some stairs. No it's not the best place I've ever stayed, but for the price it's really good value.

Room Tip: There are quite a lot of stairs and no lift from what I could see, so if you have a heavy bag it mig...

This hotel isnt a bad deal. It's pretty cheap, and you do get what you pay for - no AC, no elevator, but english speaking receptionists and a room thats somewhat clean. We had some concernes though. The fire alarm kept going off in our room over the course of the days we stayed and people from the reception kept running up the stairs and into our room to question us. None of us were smokers nor had any idea why it kept going off.

There are no AC in the rooms and during our stay it was 35 degrees C (95F). If I had to go to this hotel again I would talk to them in advance and get a room on the first or second floor.

After the stay I tried to get in contact with the hotel via email, and the email listed on the website, and the one through our booking agancy (Venere) both just bounced, so there is really no other way of contacting the hotel then by phone which is pretty bad in 2013.

Room Tip: Get a room on a low floor because there are no elevator nor AC in the room so you will work up a swe...

We have stayed 2 nights at the hotel, we book for an adult and 2 children under 10
the room was so small, we could not walk with in , the closet had a unstable shelf , the top full of dust, the door could not open as it was blocked by the additional twin bed

Noisy due to the all night activity in the street below

The staff was Helpfull, kind and professional

The place was very clean and a worker was constantly vacuuming
he also walked in our room in the morning for room service without knocking !!!!

We are three adults who stayed at Hotel Montmartre Clingnancourt in July 2013 for 3 nights. We arrived at the hotel around 8 pm and we were told by the receptionist that the room we had booked with a private bathroom was unavailable. We had booked with Booking.com, and I believe that the type of room is not necessarily guaranteed. The receptionist was nice enough about it but not terribly sympathetic. Our room was on the 5th floor. The room had a wooden floor that was slanted toward the middle, which was a little bit unsettling. There was a sink in the corner of the room. The room was overall fairly spacious for Europe and the beds appeared comfortable and clean. My husband said that the hotel room had a smell, possibly of cigarettes, but I did not notice it at all. The noise level on the street seemed to me a bit loud. We stayed in 5 other hotels throughout Europe on our trip and this had the most street noise. The bathroom down the hall had one room with a toilet and another room with a shower and sink. It seemed like the shower must be cleaned once or twice throughout the morning because sometimes we went and the floors were wet and there were towels every where and other times it was perfectly clean. There was something wrong with the shower head where it leaked and sprayed water even out of the stall and got the floor all wet but the water pressure and hot water worked fine. I'm not sure how many other rooms shared the bathroom, but I only had to wait for someone one time during our stay. The WiFi in the room worked fine, but you needed a unique code to use it and you had to enter it every time you logged on. The breakfast was basic but fine and included croissants, baguettes, coffee and orange juice. The receptionist let us leave our luggage there after check out since we had a later train to catch which was very helpful. Overall it is definitely decent considering it is a very cheap 1 star hotel. The location is great since it is near the metro and train stations and there are a lot of neat restaurants and shops right in Montmartre. However, if I am ever able to come to Paris again I think I would fork out more cash and stay some where a little nicer.

If you are arriving from either Gare du Nord, or Gare l'est there is a metro stop a few block away from the hotel and it is rather easy to miss, just know that it is across the street from the mcdonalds. One thing to keep in mind, is that considering that this is Paris the price is rather cheap (I paid around 70 euro/night). That being said, I was caught off guard by the community bathrooms and showers, which on around day three became a pain. Also travel light if possible, because there was no elevator and there are six floors with steep stair which could cause trouble if you have a lot of luggage. The staff spoke varying degrees of english and from my experience were willing to struggle through it if you employed common courtesy and attempted some french in the beginning. They were helpful in letting us keep our luggage behind the desk when we checked out and went out for the day until we left on the train. The wifi is free, but you need a personal ID which can be obtained at the front desk, but is only valid on one device for two days. As far as location goes, it is extremely close to le Sacre couer, which offers a wonderful view of the city. It is easy enough to get to all of the main tourist attractions via metros located throughout montmartre area (If you are staying for several days I would recommend getting a booklet of tickets at reduced price). Also keep in mind that the area around the hotel is predominantly french immigrants and that their knowledge of languages other than french is likely to be limited especially in the many street-side stands near the hotel. Overall, the place essentially you get what you pay for, cheaper than staying on Rue de Rivoli,, but if you are traveling on a budget this may be the place for you.
