Having been to Paris before and seeing Le Train Blue, but not dining there, it was on my Bucket List. So this ladies trip to Paris we decided to make it a date. We ordered the 56 euro four course meal (menu rejane) with different entrees and a bottle of wine. The portions were very generous, the wine was fine and the ambiance was amazing. So much beautiful art work to look at! If I had one complaint it would be that our server was attentive, efficient but not very friendly. It was a lovely ladies night out:)

The best night, both in entertainment, ambiance, and food.
From the moment you enter the restaurant you enter a magical place – so beautiful, from the lighting, the artefacts around the room, the mirrors and art works and to fabulous table settings (large tables for Paris).
Thank you Christophe (our fine waiter) for making the evening so enjoyable, with your great style, gentle humour and excellent carving and waiting skills. Or meals were delicious, from the made-at-the-table Steak Tatare, to the carved-at-the-table leg of delicious lamb.
The whole experience was so delightful – a wonderful way to end our few weeks stay in Paris.

You don't need to eat here, although it is an amazing place. JUST LOOK THROUGH THE WINDOWS - Old Paris and SNCF at its best. Then eat downstairs on the open concourse and save a fortune!!

I had two hours prior to my TGV at Gare de Lyon in Paris. My colleagues and I had a wonderful lunch at Le train Bleu. I had the monkfish and my colleagues had the steak tartare and slow cooked beef. Portions were generous and the wine by the glass excellent. Service by all staff was outstanding

We went to Le Train Bleu for dinner at the start of our train journey to Italy. Don't be put off by the neon lights and unassuming stairs to the restaurant; it's one of the most lavish places to eat.

I'd booked by e-mail and had mentioned one of us was vegetarian. We were welcomed, asked which one of us was vegetarian (which in France I thought was a nice touch) and seated in the quiet part of the restaurant.

Initially service was perhaps a touch slow, drink orders taking a while, but the excellent vintage champagne made up for the wait. The service was attentive, pleasant and charming; yes it's French so don't expect the waiter to become your best buddy for the evening. The meat based amuse bouches arrived, the waiter immediately noticed and a vegetarian one appeared in moments.

The food is good; not the best but good, French cooking - tomato salad looked great, the blue lobster salad was great, salmon in red curry was tasty and the lamb, carved on the trolly and served unceremoniously with creamy potato gratin was pure theatre, and delicious. The meringue was soft and delicious, the rum baba, cut at table and rum poured over was again theatre, and the bottle left on the side was a temptation too far.

But it's the show that makes the restaurant such fun; the myriad of waiters, porters, section heads, head waiters, all with specific tasks, food always being carried at shoulder level, the incredible setting with paintings of the cities one can reach from Gare de l'Est - its an real experience.

Not cheap in anyone's book, and the wine is expensive (I went for the Duboeuf Moulin a vent Beaujolais at €57, which was a good choice to match with salmon and lamb mains and one of the more reasonable wines on the list), but as a special meal I think it's hard to beat for an evenings entertainment.
