“Best Experience in Paris!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2011

Great place to stay when you have limited budget to stay in Paris. My friends and I stayed with the other 5 ladies from US and Canada. They were all lovely and friendly.

It's the place where you can mingle with other backpackers from around the world :)

I love staying here because of the food (of course) and the Seine river which is just around the corner.

The shower rooms are clean. I think it depends on whom you are staying with. Luckily, when i stayed there, they were civilized :)

Great place to stay and i'll be back ;)

My boyfriend and I stayed at St. Christopher's for a week in September, 2011. The breakfast was nothing special (baguette bread, butter, nutella and coffee/tea/juice). The room was pretty good although the walls had big dirty smudges on them. The showers/bathrooms weren't the greatest, but it's a hostel so... I've seen worse. It can be quiet loud in the hostel at night, but it's mostly young people staying there so I guess that's alright. We weren't bothered once we were up stairs in our room. The food in the restaurant is mediocre. The best part about St. Christopher's though was a little sidewalk restaurant right around the corner along the seine called La Bellerive (turn left at the front door of St.C and then left again towards the back of the hotel, past the holiday inn - it's on your right hand side, at the corner of Quai de la Seine and Rue Riquet). It was our favourite restaurant in Paris. St. C was close to the main metro lines so we could get around very easily using it as a base.

I stayed here in 2009 but am just now doing a review. It was close to the subway, a laundry facility, and some cheap places to eat. The staff was beyond rude to me. The elevator never worked while I was there and I had to take my stuff up like six floors or something. The food was horrible that they sold. Wifi only worked on the ground floor. So had to take laptop downstairs and then take it back up before going out. I did like the beds, nice and the curtain was great. Very large bins you can lock your stuff in.
Tip: I kept a large safety pin to use for my keys and at night I would pin them to the inside of my curtain so they wouldn't get lost or stolen. I have had problems with theft in some hostels.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to ground floor. In case elevator is out still.

Its a very nice hostel with complete facility, however I found that the staff are not the nicest people in the world, less hospitality and warmth. I got problem where the socket and the lamp in my bed is not working, I asked the reception in the morning but in the evening when I got back its still not working and when I asked the reception guy (different guy) I have to wait until tomorrow to change the bed, they don't really give solution for me because the next day I will check out. With the price, I expect better service.

A decent enough hostel. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and spacious. I particularly liked the curtains on the bunkbeds. Lockable storage and sockets by each bed. The bar is good and breakfast is not bad for a freebie. Our dorm had a really nice view of the canal. The only downside is that the immediate area was a little dodgy. I didn't like walking around alone at night, and some of the local men come into the bar at night and sleaze all over the girls. Though I'd say the security inside the sleeping area is good, everything is keycard access. It is convenient for the metro though, just a few minutes walk and you can access the city centre. Montmatre is just about walkable, not in high heels though as I found out! Overall I would stay there again, but be careful at night, or take some mace spray.

Room Tip: Try to get a lower floor, the lift is sooooooo slow.

This hostel certainly lives up to its claim as a purpose-built hostel.
Unique features: each bunk had a curtain which afforded privacy, as well as a huge metal bin for luggage which stows away under the lower bunk. Bring your own lock.
Toilets and showers were located outside the rooms, and were more than adequate and spick and span.
My rooms (at both ends of the 1st floor) were slighty musty though.
Hostel is not located along the main road, but within walking distance of metro stations. Directions at website and google streetview should be of help.
