If you're a smoker, this is the place for you - stinks of smoke! This was our second rental for our second week in Paris. Don't rent in this neighborhood. If you're not familiar with Paris, this flat is located in a very busy area - not good for families. It is on the busiest street in Paris and the food and restaurants around the area are not very nice despite what the owner will tell you. The first thing we noticed when walking in the door was the smell...fresh cigarette smoke (all 5 of us immediately noticed the same thing). My wife has asthma and the one thing she can not tolerate is the smell of smoke. It was downhill from there. This place was advertised as smoke free but it wasn't. My wife had a reaction right away and I knew we were going to have to move. I tried to work with the owner Terry about it on site and he was adamant that there was no smell and that he would not refund the money even as my wife was using her inhaler. I left after about 2 hours of searching on the internet for another place and found a hotel close by, spending another $1800 EURO to make it work on short notice. We did get a look around the place so I'll give you a few tips. Kitchen is very outdated so plan on eating out all meals. Walls had dirt and stains on them, and the furniture was old and musty with cushions missing - my daughter described the place as sketchy. Good luck trying to get a good night's sleep on the beds as they are old thin mattresses with no box spring. No bathroom on the ground floor either so you'll be climbing a circular staircase every time. You'll have to carry suitcases up 2 flights of stairs if you need 4 rooms. No closet in master so you have to hang clothes in another room. TV is in a corner of the room and very small and old. These were just a few of my quick observations. The problem was never resolved and I am really disappointed in the owner's response as well as the lack of support from Trip Advisor in helping me with my rights as a consumer. I asked everyone (the owner Terry and Trip Advisor) to be reasonable since I felt it was falsely advertised as "non-smoking". They wanted proof that there was smoking...I could not provide proof other than knowing the smell and my wife's reaction. All in all it really sucked and cost me a bundle. Beware of renting this flat. You can find much better for quire a bit less.
