We stayed here for 8 nights and we were happy with it.
The room is small, the toilet is really tiny but towels are changed every day and everything looks clean and in order.
The moquette smelled a bit.
The hotel is near the metro Bonsergeant, just a couple of stops away from RER and Gare du Nord/Gare de l'Est. The patisserie in front of the metro is really something, so I recommend to go and try it!
During the stay we were served by four receptionists; unfortunately I do not remember the names, but two of them are really rude and whatever you ask (in French) they will reply "Je sais pas" and they won't search for you unless you reask come more times.
On the other hand, the guy with a black beard is very friendly and kind and smiling.
But the BEST part of the hotel is the young receptionist with curly hair and, I guess, this is the first time I comment on something like that. He is happy and warm and so kind and will assist you in any possible way, also by providing you with extra tips and recommendations on what you are asking. Leaving the hotel in the morning or coming back tired in the evening with such a welcoming and smiling receptionist, believe me, is a real JOY.
May I suggest his boss to give him a promotion?
We stayed for 4 nights in late May 2012 and although it's a bit tired (and shower is tricky to get into), we had a good stay. We had a road front room and although it's not on a main road, it was a bit noisy at night (particularly on the weekends). The bed was comfy, the staff were friendly. The breakfasts are a good option and price for what you get - croissants, buns, yogurts, cereals, cheese, juice, tea and coffee. The hotel is close to Gare du Nord and Est and also the local buses and subways. We walked most days and it took about 20-30 minutes to get to Notre Dam, and about 15 minutes to Montmarte.
I would stay again!
This hotel is great if you are arriving late night at Gare du Nord, or departing early morning from Gare du Nord. The location of the hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train station, and while the public spaces of the hotel are cluttered, the rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Most hotel rooms in central Paris are small, as are these rooms, but not unusually small. The size of the room is completely manageable, especially if you only are staying one night. Given the price of the room, this hotel is a great value. Moreover, the staff is very helpful.
We stayed here in April 2012 for one night, as we needed to be at Gare du Nord early the next morning. The hot water was broken the night we stayed, but the staff attempted to call us before our arrival and offer us various solutions. Upon our arrival, they notified us of the problem, offered us a discount, and kindly provided us with floor heaters and more blankets than we needed. The staff helped make the experience as pleasant as possible.
We recommend this hotel for a one night stay for those traveling through Gare du Nord.
I have booked here because I had to travel every morning to the Exhibition centre in Villepinte so I needed a metro station close. There was 2 of us in the room which was definetly too small to move around or to fit luggage, we had to leave all the clothes in the suitcases. The staff was nice apart from the man usually at reception on morning shifts which was very short. On the second day after all day at the exhibition we go back only to find out once inside the shower (on our way in, the reception didn't say anything to us) there was no hot water, when I called the reception to tell them they replied: yes we know there has been a problem with the gas. The next morning the same story, my collegause said it was unacceptable and the guy at the reception said: is not my fault! In a very rude way, (we were not blaiming him in any way). Anyways the other 2 days we had no hot water so the nice woman director of the Hotel didn't charge us for the remeining 3 nights (although my colleaguse had already paid in advanced).
I stayed here in early 2012 for 2 nights. Hotel rooms are on the small side, but for the price paid acceptable. Rooms clean, comfortable and warm. Hotel reception staff were friendly.
Hotel is close to two metro station and place de la republique with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants around. Great location and hotel for a city break in Paris.
We didn't opt for breakfast here so cannot comment.
