I rented Studio Colbert primarily because of the history associated with the Marquis de Colbert, Finance Minister to Louis XIV. He had to be a skillful finance minister especially with Louie's spending habits!
The room is underground, very private and spacious. Modern in many aspects but not losing any architectual touch in stone floors, walls and ceiling in living area. Bring a flashlight or a bright night light so it is easy to find the bathroom at night! The location was perfect and it was a very easy walk to nearest Metro stations, the Louvre, Jardin des Tulieries, Place de Concorde, Starbucks and a lot of cafes' and stores. The apartment is located near the border of the 1st and 2nd arrondisements... primarily Asian restaurants from Japonese to Thai food.
We really enjoyed our stay, the studio was great and stayed cool despite the heat. The shower was really nice and the beds comfortable and the owners were great with communication. It was in a nice location, easy access to multiple metros as well easy walking distance to many sights. The only thing was that the floors were uneven and rough stone, we tripped a few times. Other than that we had a lovely stay and would stay here again.
We fell in love with our studio straight away, it was just like in the pics & was in a central area with plenty of restaurants to find a tasty meal. It was comfortable & had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Isabelle gave detailed checking in information & the property was easy to find. We didn’t really need to use the kitchen, apart from the fridge, as we ate out most of the time; but it was well equipped if you wanted to cook anything. We did encounter a couple of problems during our stay, however, these were dealt with promptly & didn’t spoil our holiday. I would highly recommend Isabelle’s apartment for a unique experience & a great stay in Paris!
Booked Studio Colbert through Tripadvisor after falling in love with this quirky property. Isabelle was very helpful, providing pictures and all the codes you will need to enter the property. Studio was stylish, warm, clean and comfortable providing all the amenities for a pleasant self catering stay. My travelling companions concur with my views. Wish I could have stayed longer. Lots of cafe's eataries in the surrounding area, very accessible safe area. Would recommend and would stay again.
The location was a fun experience to enjoy. The cellar is clean, neat and perfectly suited for a great time in Paris. It was nice having a small kitchenette for making evening tea and light lunches.
Owners were very helpful and keep in touch via text. We never in fact meant them, but accessing the building was very easy.
It is very close to the Louvre, (approx 8 min walk) and close to plenty of places to eat. It's also close to a metro station that takes you all over Paris.
If you are driving I would suggest parking at the underground parking garage at Opéra-Meyerbeer. You can book your time for that at parclick's website. Really easy. It's only approx 8 min walk from the suite.
Although it says king sized bed it is infact two singles pushed together. Not to much of a problem, but makes snuggling harder.
We loved our stay and would go again when visiting Paris!
The apartment is exactly as depicted and was great for a unique experience. The apartment was very nice, clean, and had all of the needed amenities. The owners even provided us with some water and fresh apple juice in the refrigerator, which was a nice cool-down after arriving at the apartment. The one downside is the warmth and humidity of the apartment, which was surprising given that it is located below ground level. There are two air vents to help with the humidity, which we left running at all times during our stay, however this did not seem to have much impact. It was only about 75 degrees outside, so I expected this apartment to be even cooler than it was. However, we weren't in the apartment very long, other than to sleep, so it didn't have a huge impact. I would definitely recommend this apartment to those looking for a unique stay in Paris.
The idea of staying underground when in Paris might not be appealing, but this apartment is well worth forsaking daylight. The location is perfect - right by the Opera - and there is a huge selection of restaurants and shops nearly, including Passage de Choiseul. The kitchen is well-stocked, including a Nespresso machine and capsules, and when we arrived the sofa was extended with bedclothes for our two children. There is careful attention to detail in the many extras like foodstuffs and toiletries, but the real star is the apartment itself - a wonderful authentic experience in Paris.
