Went Easter Fri and had the gourmet menu with paired sake. Lovely and tasty food. Great service too.

“Great Saké combined with tasty food”
Reviewed December 4, 2011

We went to this little restaurant on a saturday and were lucky we reserved a table. The interior is basic but cosy and the bottles saké are the most important form of decoration.
We were welcomed by a very friendly Japanese waitress.
In this sakébar/restaurant you have only one 5 course menu that you can take...so you'll have to trust the chef. The menu is only 29 euro and great value for money. We combined it with a degustation of 3 different kinds of Saké.
The plates are not 100% Japanese, but the chef integrates French and sometimes Italian cuisine in his kitchen.
We started with some very nice amuses : tofu with smoked salmon, shrimp on a stick with a very nice cream around it, very refined and surprising, and than also a rice krupuk with light cheese on it.
The other dishes were salad of the cheff with scallops and sesame seeds, a velouté of mushrooms with almonds, risotto with Shisho and pork with a very nicely ballanced sauce with mirin and soya, cream of pumpkin.
We also took the dessert with matcha tea mouse, white chocolat cream, vanilla ice.
Every dish was very well prepared and with the right combinations...really a joy of tastes.
The sakés were also very good...started with a more mineral one, than a fruity stronger one and to end with a more earthy unfiltered one.
The only downpoint of this visit was the guy who had to serve the saké. You really had to ask to have the next one, and he was always busy on the phone instead of serving. Luckily the very friendly Japanes girl made it all up for him :-)
Give it a try, it's well worth it.
