This was a bit of a light in an otherwise dark eating experience on my last trip to Paris. Good, inexpensive French cooking in a very pretty place with a nice street view. The vegetable soup is particularly yummy. Unrushed, solid eating experience. Don't get the fish though. Everything else was solid.

Right int the heart of the Latin Quarter, where history meets the present, Le Volcan offers a true Parisian dining experience.... Nothing pretentious, just warm, welcoming service and freshly prepared food ! I have visited Paris over 50 times and each time I am here, I make it my business to eat at Le Volcan with friends. We have never been disappointed !

We (4 adults, one child) had an excellent experience at this restaurant. We chose the set menu (appetizer, main course, dessert) for 23 euros and found good value. The orange duck and the steak with Roquefort sauce were particularly tasty. And the steak came with the most amazing garlic potatoes. No menu for children but they gladly gave my 3 yr old a small plate which she used to sample all our food (the orange duck received a "yummy"). While the waiter at our table was not exactly friendly he gave us prompt service and the hostesses at the door were very hospitable (we received two lollipops on our way out for my daughter). They also ran off a rose seller who had wandered into the restaurant for which I was appreciative. We will return our next Paris trip.

The blend of flavors of the bouef Bourgignone was amazing, as was the onion soup, canard l'orange and desserts. Our French is very limited, but the staff was very helpful.

We ate a few of our Paris dinners here at Le Volcan. What a wonderful setting for an evening out. The neighborhood north of the Place Monge metro station is filled with people; there's a broad mix of ages; and diners have many reasonable options. Le Volcan was a favorite of ours on our last visit, and it was wonderful to eat there again. The boeuf bourguignon is tender and tasty; the mussels are wonderful, the duck in orange sauce is a treat; and the eapple atrt with ice cream is a great conclusion to dinner. Great prices; friendly service; a "French country" setting. Be sure to stop by.
