I stumbled upon this little cafe (actually they refer to themselves as a salon de the) several times before I wrote down exactly where I saw it and came back for lunch. It has limited seating and a limited menu, but the food is good quality and not too expensive for residing in the city center.
The most charming feature is its unique position - just far enough off the street to cut down on traffic noise. Backed slightly uphill, into a blind alley behind St. Gervais-et.-St.-Protais Church, your view is similar to a small, private courtyard. And yet there is some pedestrian traffic to watch. This is truly a tranquil spot to relax in the middle of a very busy area of the city, likely to be close to your route between sights.
