“Great bike trip”
Review of A La Petite Reine

Great bike trip from Fontainebleau to Barbizon - just bike from the bike shop straight to the forest and follow the FB (Fontainebleau Barbizon) signs on the road. Nice shop to buy food and drink on the way and nice coffee shops to relax in Barbizon before returning back.

We stopped off in Fontainebleau on the way back from the Dordogne to break the journey for a day. My husband found this bike shop on trip advisor and we thought it would be a good day out with the children. It was my favourite day of the holiday. The bike shop is in an easy location with plenty of car parking nearby. The bikes we rented were very good. My children are aged 8, 11 and 13 and they had bikes suitable for all of us and provided helmets and a puncture kit/spare inner tubes and a lock. The forest is a short ride up a cycle route from the shop and once you're there you don't come across any cars. You have to cross one or two roads, but other than that it's stress free cycling. I would recommend studying the map before going as we ended up on one track which was very sandy, so difficult for cycling. I think it was for horse riding. The bouldering was great fun and Barbizon is an absolutely gorgeous village.

We have been to Fontainebleau 2 times for 2 months each time. Both times we have gotten bikes from this shop which rents and sells bicycles. The lady who works (owns) the shop is fantastic. She speaks good English and of course French. She is extremely nice, friendly and makes us feel welcome to France as well as her shop. They are well stocked with bikes and accessories. They rent bicycles for tours in the Fontainebleau forest as well if you are interested. We use bicycles for basic transportation while we are here. The mechanics have worked on our bikes when we have been here in the past and are very good. I really couldn't recommend them more for all your bicycle needs.

We rented two bikes in this store and used them the entire day to explore Fontainebleau forest. Bikes were well maintained and the service was nice.

This small Bike shop in Fontainebleau is a great resource if you are looking for an active way to explore Fontainebleau region. Our family of 4 started our day at 10:00AM renting bikes from the shop, and biked to the village of Barbizon (7KM away) on easy paved trail through the Fontainebleau Forrest. We stopped to enjoy the beautiful view of the gorge along the way, and stopped at a few of the bouldering sites and climbed a few of the beginner rocks. The forest is vast, quiet and beautiful. We enjoyed lunch in Barbizon (Le Gaulois Sur Le Grill), and explored the town and surroundings by bike, then headed back to Fontainebleau for a ride around the Grand Canal of the Fontainebleau Chateau (free entry to the Grand Canal gardens and biking is OK). Thanks to A La Petite Reine we had an active day of exploring and our teenagers welcomed the break from walking tours and museums.. The staff was friendly, and the rental was a great value - approx. $15Euro for all day rental. Happy we found this place!
