Located opposite of Fontainebleu, you won't find a hotel any closer but this hotel is old and tired. Our room (junior suite) faced the inner courtyard but the rooms lacks character, carpet is stuffy, bathroom dated and the bed looked like a DYI bed. We skipped breakfast and headed to the grand cafe at the corner; they serve a simple but good breakfast plus excellent coffee.
The staff at this hotel was very nice and helpful - they deserve a better hotel

If you wonder why it is called Hotel Napoleon, do not think it is because of Fontainebleau.
It is simply that the rooms are tiny and the so called double beds are single beds. Just like the diminutive French tyrant.

Corridors are filthy, rooms smelly.

Do not get trapped by the lobby. Everything is simply appalling.

Stayed for 3 nights. The en suite room was clean, warm, and well-equiped although the bath was to short for me (6'2"). Breakfasts excellent. Didn't have an evening meal so can't comment. The staff were unfailingly friendly and obliging - my party had to be up at 5 one morning to attend a sporting event and the manager made sure the breakfast room was open for us, food and coffee ready. Parking in the town is not easy but that's not the hotel's fault. In order to load our bags in/out we made like a Frenchman and pulled up right outside the front doors regardless of other traffic. Worked a charm.

Stayed for 6 nights, so time enough to get to know The Napoleon. I think I was probably a bit unlucky. The room was very small, and lighting poor so always felt a bit dark and dingey. The heating was a bit all or nothing, and the only remedy for a very hot room was to fling the windows open! Nice views over the courtyard though. It's a real rabbit warren and I am not sure how you'd get out in an emergency! My over riding memory though is of outrageous bar prices. A whiskey, Cointreau and vermouth (with no mixers) came to 30 euros!!!

Perfectly placed. Underground parking at 10 EURO 24HRS... Driving back from Chamonix in a continual blizzard...found the p[lace by accident.
The hotel is rather worn...but clean and warm...food is good..staff friendly...will stop here again as it is much nicer than Paris.

Great and convenient location in Fontainebleau - 3 mins from the Chateau, 10 mins from INSEAD. The reception is bright and modern. Was here with extended family - grandma down to grandkids - so had 3 rooms for the family. Dated rooms but clean and neat. One concern was the layout very loopy corridors and lifts don't get to floors perfectly so you still need to drag luggage up stairs - not great if you have mobility issues. With 8 pieces of luggage this got boring very quickly!
Restaurant was quite good - apparently best in Fontainebleau. Staff though we're overall helpful and courteous.
Good hotel for a short stay and if you are ok with lots of stairs.

The hotel has a nice front, a nice lobby and a reasonable restaurant and bar. However, for some 160 euros or even mores the rooms are a letdown. All the items you would need are there in some fashion, but it does not really add up. There is a coffee maker. Spare wall plugs are hard to find, however, making charging devices a puzzle. There was an airco unit - one of those mobile units with a flexible air pipe hanging out of the window. Toilet and bathroon are quite clean - but many tiles are cracked with pieces missing. The fiitings look like they date from the mid-seventies. The most interesting feature in the bathroon, however, was the large window. It was next to the shower and only had a "vitrage". So if the light is on..... there are many rooms with an addional unintended view! Add in the various rather sloppy little repairs and the non-matching furniture, and one has the impression of staying in the little-used visitors room of a slightly dotty aunt. On the positive side, there IS free wifi, and it actually works. But, if you visit Fontainebleau, try to get into the Mercure or so.... unless you really dont mind the stuff above and want to go for that 1970 provincial town charm.

Room Tip: the rooms are all different so changing rooms can make quite a difference
