The citadelle was an impressive place to visit.
A steep and twisty drive up from town took us to parking near the entrance.
For the admission fee there is a lot to see. The citadelle is large, with many places to walk and explore and a museum of the French Resistance and Deportation, which is worth seeing.
Lots of steps for the ramparts, but some great views.
The surprise at the back of the citadelle is a zoo, with a good range of animals and some nice enclosures. There is also a small aquarium.
If you want to see everything the visit could eaily be most of a day.
