One of the best Ibis hotels in France in our opinion. The hotel is recently built. Our room was a good size (probably above-average for Ibis), perfectly clean and maintained, with a modern bathroom. Staff very friendly. Free internet. On-site parking under the hotel. Historic downdown Besançon is less than 5 minutes walk away. The city itself has a lot to offer for tourists, with a beautiful citadel on a hill overlooking the city, a cathedral with an astronomic clock, beautiful parks, a zoo and a very moving resistance/holocaust museum in the citadel, the birthplace of Victor Hugo with a museum and a beautifully preserved 18th century pharmacy, and lots of historic buildings. Besançon is definitely worth a visit for a couple of days and we recommend the Ibis La City as the place to stay.
