The location was spot on - right by the Citadel and 5 mins walk to the city. Secure parking, polite staff and a well restored historic building. Very calm - slept very well. Having drinks on the terrace watching the sun set - wonderful

Room Tip: All great. Very quiet and peaceful

Former monastery - modernized but still with a bit mysterious atmosphere. Room really nice, wonderful, stylish bathroom. This is definitely the hotel with character!
One minus is breakfast - really small: just ham, jam, cheese, bread, eggs.

Found this by accident. Newly refurbished to a first class standard, beautiful rooms and dog friendly. Would go again and recommend. Staff were helpful, large secure car park at the rear, a welcome break to our wet and cold trip to France!

We found this hotel by chance while looking for a hotel rather late in the day on our way to the Alps, and couldn't believe what we'd found! The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was beautiful, the breakfast was good and the price was very reasonable. The setting for the hotel is a former convent, and has great views over the gardens and beyond. Besancon itself is a very interesting town, and the hotel was close enough to the centre to fit in a bit of exploring before continuing our journey.

This hotel is in a nice park, on top of the hills, close to the old city, citadelle etc. Once you enter the old monastery you can feel a calm, relaxing atmosphere.we got room#8, has no window but a door that opens toward a nice patio. The room is modern, behind thick walls and the bathroom is a dream...some people might not like italian showers, I just loved it! Who needs a bathtub in summer anyway? Breakfast was nice, not a very rich buffet but fresh food...the baker brought fresh croissants and baguettes even on sunday. Staff is also very friendly and efficient. I would return when I visit again.

Room Tip: #8 is a gem...

What a treat Le Hôtel Sauvage is! With lovely decor and surrounds, tasteful and comfortable rooms with delicious showers and toiletries, this hotel oozes good taste with its neutral decor and wonderful French provincial feel. The location is convenient with all the main attractions of this beautiful old city within walking distance. Staff were friendly and welcoming though you will need some French in this part of the world. Breakfasts are extra but excellent. Will definitely return should the opportunity arise.

Room Tip: All are good.

This beautiful former convent has been lovingly refurbished to a very high standard. In a beautiful part of this historic city, every aspect of our stay was thoroughly enjoyable - friendly and helpful reception staff, great breakfast - the jam was to die for and very elegant room with comfortable bed and great proportions. Parking in the grounds another benefit. Loved it all, even the noisy old wooden floors in the corridors, and especially the quintessential French style that permeates.
