I like a vegetarian restaurant and I like organic food. I have eaten inspirational food on that basis where a lot of time and thought has gone in to the food and its presentation. 18 euros for, essentially, 2 slices of toast with asparagus and cheese served with a pile of lettuce and 2 slices of tomato was not up there I am afraid. Neither was the over salted local sausage swimming in cheese sauce.
I really support the use of local produce and organic ingredients in my own business but just having organic credentials is not enough. I get that the asparagus was local, hand picked and an expensive item but this does not mean it is OK to not spend time and effort on how it looks on the plate. My vegetarian husband was so disappointed and it makes me angry when vegetarian or vegan restaurants let the side down by resting on their credentials.
The homespun approach would have been less annoying if it was not accompanied by the upper end price tag.
