“outstanding!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

We were unsure what to expect , but were blown away by the care and attention given to the presentation even of the humble set menu. The quality of the food was excellent and congratulations are due to the obviously very artistically gifted chef !

“A good choice for a Sunday dinner”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2012 via mobile

One of the good things about Brasserie 1802 is that it's open on Sunday. The restaurant was a bit quiet in the evening i went as it's a Sunday and I only arrived there at about 21:00.

The 24 euros 3-course menu sermed to be a good bargain. But since I fancied something else a la carte, I didn't take it. Both my snails entree and my roasted monkfish maincourse were tasty though it'd have been better if they'd been hotter. I love my food hot!

All in all, a nice and relaxing restaurant with good food at reasonable prices and good service.

“Charcter and style”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2012

Brasserie 1802 on Place Granvelle is a very pleasant restaurant with wonderful service and food.It has the additional benefit of a large covered terrace opposite a bandstand. The night we were there couples were dancing under the lights. Very romantic . This restaurant has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and because of that there was a real sense of enjoyment when eating a meal and what a meal: Wonderful scallops , crevettes, avocados, fresh grapefruit segments and a salad to die for. Local Franche Compte cheeses and reasonably priced wines. Highly recommended.

“If in Besancon then try 1802”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2012

Set in the wooded Place Granvelle the Brasserie 1802 is a modern restaurant serving local and national cuisine with a modern presentation and style.
There is a short but good wine list and we had a Saint Veran white burgundy which is one not tried before but will be looking for this when back home, a Chardonnay with lots of character.
I had a fois gras terrine served with local sausage and a vin Juan reduction - nicely presented and gorgeous . My wife had a scallop and crevette salad with avocado, salad leaves and a light Marie Rose sauce which drew the same reaction as mine.
Her main course of breast of duck served with lavender infused potato, aspargus wrapped in ham and dressed with a honey reduction looked lovely on the plate and had a taste to match. I had an entrecôte with salad and the steak was really good, served with a sauce of shallots, whole  pink peppercorns and parsley in a good olive oil which added a lot to the taste.
Overall an excellent lunch, helped by good service and the pleasant setting. Not cheap, but for 90 euros, including the wine, worth it, and certainly a place to recommend.
