Ok museum of XIV - XIX C art - the cardinal's taste is kinda focused on a religious theme. Having seen the big European collections, it is surprising how many of these works are quite bland. For EUR 8 it is ok and worth 1 hr.

Before visiting Ajaccio I did not know that Cardibal Fesch had made the most amazing collection of pictures housed in this fine palace. Ajacciomis a littke place, but this collection is huge and reallybinteresting. Lots of links to the Bonaparte clan.
Gonto see it!

We visited here and were very impressed with the collection of very early paintings. This was about the only recommended cultural site that was open on a Sunday. One of the curators who spoke very little English was very keen for us to see his favourite painting and it didn't disappoint, the brushwork was amazing.

One of the better mid range art museums in Europe. Mostly non-name painters but there are many paintings and many are very good. We went to Ajaccio primarily to see the are museum. Glad we did.

The museum has three floors of paintings and sculptures, two of these are generic but the ground floor is focused on Napoleon and his family. The ground floor is by far the most interesting. The upper two floors are ok, but could be any gallery anywhere. There is nothing that stands out as a 'must see' piece.

After the museum, visit the chapel where many members of Napoleon's family are buried. It is an impressive monument to a once powerful family.
