A pleasant place to stop for lunch, with friendly service, good dishes swinging between modern cuisine and traditional french/corsican. I have eaten there a few times and there are often good and original "plat du jour", which gives a nice twist to the menu that is a little more traditional (pasta gambas, grillades, etc...).
Also very conveniently located in the centre of Ajaccio.

We dine at the restaurant on 1.1.2012. We were seated by a non welcoming waitress that was obvious not to be happy being
There on the day. The owner came to take our order, he was very nice and explained the menu and the history of the place in a welcoming way. The first starter out of two was a bean soup. It was homy, soup with vegetables, nothing to write home about. Second starter was a brocciu cheese crepe, the sauce was sweet and tasty. Main course lamb was very bonny so not much meat but good flavour. Through out whole the meal the waitress asked us to keep the used cutlery for next dish which wasn't elegant but we thought is part of the meal concept. We were so surprised that she kept asking to keep the same dirty knife and fork for the cheese plate and when asked if we can change  cutlery, she all of a sudden made a sharp movement showing her dissatisfaction that I thought she is going to attack us. The cheese with marmalade was really nice and so is the dessert. Throughout the whole meal not a single smile from the waitress which we later realised was probably the owner's daughter, was this part of the restaurant concept? All in all the design of the place was cosy and full of charm, the food was between interesting to average and the service was between cold to freaky. We actually liked the restaurant though could do better with euro70 bill not including drinks.

If you looking for good Corsican folk music, you'll find it here. Beyond that, the dining room is crowded and hot. The charcuterie starter and caramel creme dessert are very good, the rest of the food is average, and very heavy....go with a big appetite. The house wine is expensive, about 12 euros for half bottle, not included in 33 euro/person prix fixe menu. Overall, there's better food and atmosphere in Ajaccio for the price.

You will not find a menu at this restaurant. It's set, and so is the price, 33euros.
It's very rustically themed inside - I suppose to mimic a Corsican country farmhouse?
It sort of works, although it felt a bit like an old version of Harvester's in the UK. The waiting staff will explain with delight that all the produce is fresh, the price of the meal, and how much you will enjoy the experience. Its all a little 'kitsch' but again, it works.
2 choices of a starter, 2 for an entree, 2 for a main dish and 2 for dessert. Very tasty Corsican meats and soup, the entrees were a little 'samey', wild boar and polenta, and veal and polenta again tasted similar after a stomach full of starters.
House wine was offered but no price given, so we guessed it would be around 12/13 euros. In fact it's 17,50, so expensive, but was pleasant enough. Water is self service from a spring in the wall. A nice touch. The Grappa digestives were free.
Overall, go and eat well if you're hungry as you wont be disappointed. Haute cuisine it isnt, but pleasantly above average it is.
With the wine the meal for 2 was 83,50......... but I could hardly walk back to our hotel as I'd eaten such a lot.

The place is really authentic-looking, the story that goes with it is awesome (well, it's a legend for the tourists, ok), it has no ventilation so don't go there if it's hot (unless if you sit on the terrasse, but there is no atmosphere at all). You don't have much choice for the food - well, it's a part of the atmosphere, but is not quite convinient. And as a part of the atmosphere the waitresses are allowed to give you only one glass for everything (it's your choice if you should drink water or wine, but not the two of them in the same time). The music is great and the musicians are adorable.
