“The Shire in real life”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013

Very nice, quite not too big area with stuff dated back 6000 years ago. Because it was so quite, we could start imagining the area, back in those days. Although its hard to make a realistic image of it. It reminded me of the Shire from LOTR. The statues are very nice, and the surrounding is welcoming. Nice creek, green grass and also english explaination of the monuments and statues. Ive seen quite some of these things, in greece, turkey, sicily ans cyprus, but i still recommend this one to visit, especially in the lower seasons.

“Stone statues”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2013 via mobile

I normally like this kind of thing but found it hard to understand due to lack in understanding of French. Not sure I thought it was worth the €7 entrance fee.

“Interesting”

Worth a visit - some very interesting stones. Visited it in May - off-season and therefore no crowds.

“Not Your Normal Tourist Site - But - Worth It”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2013

Filotosa is out of the way between Bonifacio and Ajaccio on Corsica. It is a prehistoric site embodying 8000 years of history. If pre-historic settlements are your thing, then this will give you a thrill. There are a number of peoples that lived here and all left their marks, primarily wonderful stone monuments, but also stone huts and other works. The site is beautiful in its own right and they have added a nice touch of quiet music and acoustic explanatory sites (I think in four languages) in the upper portion. The museum was under reconstruction when we were there (Apr '13). Make sure you buy the pamphlet as you go in, it will help. http://www.filitosa.fr

So wild, very unique prehistorical site. Gorgeous site in the middle of the Corsican country site...Don't forget to touch the 1000 yrs old olive tree... Simply beautiful.
