“Ok for a stop over.”
Reviewed June 12, 2013

We stayed for a night on the way down to the South of France. They were very helpful on the phone as we were a late check in. The room was ok. We slept really well. We ate breakfast next door for a few euros which was really nice. My only complaint is that I left my handbag in the cafe next door. When we returned, the Lady in the cafe had kept it for me. She said that she had gone to the Arlequin with my bag and told them that I had left it behind. She said that the receptionist just said that we had left. I was dissapointed that the staff at the Arlequin did not contact me and let me know that my bag was in the cafe. It would have saved me (and my Husband) about half an hour of stress!!

Room Tip: Ask for the wifi password if you are a late check in. It is not in the room!

Husband and I stayed at hotel for 2 nights June 1-2, 2013. The hotel was easy to find and the staff were very nice and accommodating, overall room and bathroom large and while worn was clean. Stairs were not a problem for us.

I would recommend, however, I give it 3 stars and not higher based on the following: 1) really terrible mattress, worthy of noting. Husband and I are small/medium sized people, sleep on a double mattress at home. But this was the worst night sleep. Matress was so hard and we both almost fell off the bed (never done that before). 2) in order to get some airflow in room we opened window and there was so much noise outside we felt like we were in the bar not across street from it, so closed it and were hot and uncomfortable all night, 3) knowing where to park and how to pay was confusing and we spent some time worried about getting a ticket, etc.

Overall, if you want a good location and even better price I would recommend. But not if you want a good nights sleep. Maybe do some research on the parking before leaving home.

BTW, Troyes was a beautiful place but while we were there 95% of shops were closed (maybe because over the weekend) which was really disappointing. Something else to consider if visiting Troyes. Also champagne villages a ghost town on Sundays.

Room Tip: Choose room away from street noise!

the nicest hotel staff you could ever encounter. it is an old family hotel that is full of charm. the rooms are huge! the bathroom is huge! and it is so full of charm you feel like you are truly living like a local. Some might argue that the doors are a bit thin. I would agree, but it was never a problem. I easily found parking nearby which was really cheap. you are only walking distance from everything. and breakfast is delicious. there is a nice Italian restaurant just a minutes walk from the hotel that serves better Italian food than you would get in Italy!

We were on our way back home from the Mediterranean back to Amsterdam and since we have little children (then 2 and 3), we needed a place to crash for the night.
Very friendly staff welcomed us to the hotel. Our room was the corner room on the first floor. It and its en-suite bathroom are spacious and lovingly decorated and furbished: old fashioned, but oh so sweet and romantic with lots of flowery and swirly embellishments.
Our little children slept well in their single beds, I was not so used to the rather slender size of the double bed and almost fell out :)
Wifi access worked without a hitch.
We watched town life from the french balcony (relatively safe for children), very relaxing.
For dinner, we walked down-town (15 minutes with the little ones to the city's main square) which was a lovely stroll through very picturesque half-timbered 16th century architecture.
The people of Troyes we met while dining, shopping etc. were all very friendly and helpful, as opposed to the "tourist treatment" we encountered in the French Riviera.
Wish we had had more time to explore then just one over-night-stay.
Highly recommendable.

Room Tip: Even a family of 5 (with a baby) could easily fit a travel cot and would not be pushed for space. H...

The hotel is situated very conveniently for access and the historic city centre. It is in a quiet spot with good restaurants just up the road. Our room was quiet with a large comfortable bed. Free wifi with the code given without having to ask for it on arrival. The staff were friendly and helpful. All at a reasonable price.
