“Lucky day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

When walking into the centre of Reims on a Saturday evening with nothing but a few restaurant names on a piece of paper, finding a good place that still has a spot available makes your day. For us this place was L'Alambic. 2 people hadn't turned up and so we were friendly accomodated to the two only free places in the cave.
Good quality-price ratio for both food and wine. Nothing too fancey. Very friendly service made it all worthwhile. When we were paying upstrairs, they even pointed out that if we started walking immediately, we'd still be in time for the (amazing!) light show at the cathedral!

“Excellent food & service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2013

Great restaurant with a special location underground, with a very good service and friendly personel, however the most important thing was the food. Very good food, the set menu are both good, the fish in both are very good, the magret de canard was ok for me, my brothers found it exquisite. The starter in the 37€ menu gratinee au crustacee with champaign sauce is exquisite. Finally the desserts were all good in the menu, however the soup of white chocolate and mango was one of a kind!!!! However don'expect the best ambiance or atmosphere and if you are clostrophobic avoid it since too small.

“Down in a cave”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 12, 2013

We loved the atmosphere of L'Alambic. The owner was very personable and we had an interesting talk with her about the food and the wine. I had read a few negatives about this restaurant before we left on our trip, but was very pleased about our experience. It is a little strange when you first walk in and realize you are in a cave like setting, but we enjoyed it. We felt the food was very good and a great price.

“Nice people, mediocre restaurant.”

Not so great food but most of all: you're stuck in a creepy basement. Friendly service however. Price is reasonable.

“Great service, nice food and good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

Went for wedding anniversary meal on trip from UK. Good central location and great ambience with the restaurant in the cellar and very nicely finished. Owner was very helpful and lovely to talk to. Food arrived quickly and was very tasty, decent value and reasonable selection of wines. Would recommend for an unpretentious meal in a pleasant atmosphere.
