Our hotelier suggested Cris to us for the next day and we are so happy he did. Cris was amazing and it is obvious that he is a font of knowledge and extremely well respected in the region.

We toured 3 different houses, trying eight amazing champagnes, including a rare oaked champagne. Cris took us to smaller producers away from the over commercialized larger champagne houses. It was so special to not only taste these champagnes but to meet the respective families, some of whom were fifth generation champagne producers.

We stopped in various plantings to sample grapes straight from the vines and also visited Dom Perignon's tomb.

Cris was excellent. I'd highly recommend him to anyone visiting the region.

This half day tour lasted 5 and 1/2 hours. We had multiple tasting and we were taken through the steps in the process of making Champagne. Chris took us to 2 champagne makers, to numerous vinyards and to the Champagne street in Epernay. His knowledge of and love for Champagne was remarkable. This was a great tour.

We were so pleased with our adventure to the champagne country with Chris. He obviously loves his region and especially enjoys sharing his depth of knowledge in the champagne culture. The tour itself included multiple tastings at two places, one a private winery at the owners residence; the other at a regular tasting room. It also included stops at Dom Perignon and drive-by's at Pommery and ???... can't remember! Chris is trying to add to his English, and was perfectly understandable for us. Anyway, worth the one on one time, the multiple tastings, the in- depth explanations/education and the beautiful countryside drive. Thank you Chris!

Chris is clearly passionate about champagne, he can explain the entire fabrication process, and he can make you understand that life for the small viniculteurs is not always that easy. You will also understand why the concern for quality of the product explains why you have to pay the price if you want to drink the real stuff. There are the tastings of course and since you don't have to drive yourself, everyone in the party can enjoy the glasses that are offered. The visit to a familiy champagne business only increases the admiration for these hard working people.
Chris will pick you up at the hotel, and the four hours trip might even last longer if the attendants are very interested.

We were a group of 11 lads who came to Paris for a Stag weekend. We too the Eurostar from London, which was very painless. Paris was a great base to visit the Champagne region, with only a short hop on the TGV.

Cris gave us good instruction on what train we needed to get on to make the most of our day. Unfortunately our group size changed a couple of times before the weekend, but Cris was very accommodating in that respect.

With Regards the tour. It was a fabulous day. We were met at the train station by Cris and a colleague. As we were a group of 11 were were in 2 mini buses. The tour was a fantastic experience. Cris is clearly a fountain of knowledge on all that encompasses Champagne; from the history of the land, the early creation of the vineyards, how the vine is cultivated, the varieties of the grape used and the history of Dom-Perignon and how the Champagne method of fermentation was devised.

Cris has spent large part of his life working in the Champagne industry and specifically was involved in the material science of the bottles - this is actually quite involved and an extremely important part of the process, as if not correct the bottles may explode during fermentation - costly to the producers, not to mention the other issues with exploding glass!

Naturally Cris is very familiar with many of the producers and is able to offer a very personalised experience with many of the small family producers. We were often welcomed by the family and able to taste many of the Champagnes, with an explanation of the wine from the vineyard owner themselves.

Our day was split into two halves, with the morning spent tasting the darker champagnes, with the Pinot noir & meaner and the afternoon more varieties with a more predominance of the Chardonnay grape. There were some gems, my favourite a small family vineyard producing a Blanc de Noir - made 100% from pinot noir, quite a rarity but definitely worth trying. In the morning Cris started by taking the group into the field to explain how the vine grows, the pruning techniques, the ages of the vines and how you can tell this.

At lunch we stopped at a local restaurant. This was a true experience in itself. Local quinine served with flamboyance. The patron is a true character and entertained from start to finish, we could have stayed all afternoon happily, but the tour continued.

In the afternoon as we were a stag party Cris suggested that it might be nice if the Stag opened a bottle using the Sabre technique. This was accommodated by our last Producer, who carefully explained how this was done and provided the sabre. To all our surprise he did it first time. A great way to end a fabulous day.

I can thoroughly recommend Cris Event. Great day out.
