I needed a hotel in Reims and booked the Hotel de la Paix entirely on the basis of previous TripAdvisor reviews which have raved about it. Well I wasn't disappointed, either by the location or by the hotel and its staff. It is excellent! The hotel's car park is rather small, so it pays to book a space in advance if you can, otherwise (as other reviewers have stated) just use the 24 hour multi-storey car park situated directly opposite the front entrance. BTW, I didn't have any problems getting to the hotel (I had been a bit alarmed by a previous reviewer's comment about the tramworks) - my TomTom got me right to the front door without mishap!

Service:
Very pleasant and very professional. We asked for a late checkout which was not a problem.

Room:
Very modern, stylish, clean. Obviously recently refurbished. Flat screen TV. Good size. We were on the 8th floor which gave us nice views over the surrounding buildings.

Bathroom:
Again very modern, stylish and clean.

Location:
Excellent location, right in the middle of town, pretty much on the pedestrianised area of Reims.

Additional:
Free wifi throughout the hotel.
Parking in a secure underground car park for €10 for 24 hours. Parking garage is a bit tight though so beware with larger cars.
Nice if small pool, jacuzzi and small gym.
The hotel has a very nicely landscaped inner courtyard and also a very trendy and expensive bar.
This really is not your typical Best Western. I was very impressed and can most definitely recommend this hotel. I will very likely stay here again.

Navigating in (and out) or Reims through the tramworks and resulting diversions was the only problem. We had not booked parking in the hotel's own garage, but there is a multstorey car park opposite with only cost 11 euros for an overnight stay (one euro more than the hotel's). The pool, sauna etc were a welcome facility after a long drive, and the room was nicely designed with views over the rooftops to the cathedral (8th floor, rear). Only two odd features: the bath was like a deep coffin in shape - not much wriggle room once in it, but I guess it economises on water, and the breakfast buffet room (three plasma screens all showing different channels) was huge with multiple occupancy tables and some benches to sit on - giving it a slighty institutional feel, but the food was fine.

Its a REALLY good three star hotel. Warm service at the lobby, 10 euro a night parking in their private garage, comfortable bed, newly done up (small) room, well lit and appointed bath (great toiletries) . Free WiFi.
Had the rooms been slightly larger, I would have given this rating 5 stars.

Overall an excellent one night's stay. No complaints at all.
About a one hour drive from EuroDisney. 80 minutes from CDG.

The tramworks which are turning Reims upside down right now made getting to the hotel a little tricky, but once there and in the hotel's private car park, things went smoothly. The rooms were fine - not large, but adequate. The whole place has a rather corporate feel to it, without much personality, but the staff were efficient. The kids enjoyed the pool, and there's an adjoining terrace where you can comfortably keep one eye on them and another on your book. I'd recommend taking breakfast at one of the many cafes outside the hotel, for a better value deal with more fun than the hotel offers.

We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. The Hotel is in a pedestrianised area with its own underground car park, or you can park in the car park opposite for the same price.

The bar areas inside and outside are very nice. chairs outside however are very uncomfortable, plastic chairs. Lovely nibbles with drinks. The restaurant areas are very busy on a saturday night.

Our room was very comfortable overlooking the hotel outside restaurant. Huge bed, mini-bar, safe, nice bathroom and toiletries. The Hotel is immaculately clean. However, the hallways are very dark and depressing. The walls painted in white instead of brown would make a huge difference.

Reception staff are very friendly but not very informative. We had to ask how to get to the car park.

Reims is a lovely place to visit, We did not have breakfast in the hotel but went to a lovely patisserie and sat outside. Also half the price.

A visit to the cathedral is a must, and also to the Mumm champage house. Very interesting, for children too.

Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.
