“Jewel of the Champagne Region”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

From the moment we entered the hotel, greeted by a champagne bearing butler, we were highly impressed with the luxury and sophistication of the surroundings, as well as the professionalism of the staff. They struck just the right balance of fine hotel formality and friendliness, being always eager to help us experience Reims and its environs to their fullest. We enjoyed having drinks in the bar with live music, and our non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner in the hotel's restaurant was simply superb. Our room, the Empress Josephine suite, was perhaps the most beautiful hotel room in which we have stayed anywhere in our travels throughout the world. If you have a car, this is a great location from which to day trip through the region.

Room Tip: The Empress Josephine suite is magnificent and has a small balcony overlooking the hotel's expan...

this is an amazing hotel. The chateau is small and intimate. It looks way bigger on the website. However the rooms are large with an amazing view of the gardens and the city. Limited by what they have, it has not entered into the 2014. There really is nothing much to do but to sit and drink. There is no gym, exercise classes (would be amazing to have a yoga class on the gorgeous grounds). The reception was dismal. They were not particularly helpful in giving you any information about the area and where or what to do. As such, you have to do a lot of home work before you leave in order to navigate and maximize your stay. Don`t get me wrong. If you want to be the Queen of the Chateau for a day, this is it. But just for a day.

Room Tip: this really warrants a 2 day stay. leave, go to Epinernay. The city is more charming with a lot more...

Crayeres, Responsable relations clients at Chateau Les Crayeres, responded to this review, June 13, 2014

Dear Sir,

First of all, we would like to thank you for the precious time you took to share your feelings about your last stay at Domaine Les Crayères.

We are happy to know that you have enjoyed your stay and that Domaine Les Crayères exceeded your expectations.

However, we feel very concerned with your comment concerning our reception service. The main interest of our city is indeed, the Champagne Houses and the cathedral and our reception staff is wholly able to inform our guests about the different Champagne Houses and the places to visit in the area.

Nethertheless, it seems that we failed with you today and we apologize if our reception gave you the feeling of being sad and unhelpful. Our clients are our priority and all our collaborators do their best to give them the attentions that will leave them an unforgettable memory of their stay in our House.

Despite this bad impression, we hope having the pleasure to welcoming you again at Les Crayères. Do not hesitate to contact me, or the front desk manager Mrs Marie-Liesse MANTSCH for your next reservation, we would be pleased to take care of your booking and to assure you a special attention.

Yours sincerely,

Stayed for Valentines, arrived early to be greeted with complementary glass of champagne with the words "this is our sparkling water" - what great start! So we enjoyed a glass while our room was prepared and what an amazing rom it was; spacious with a 4 poster, large bathroom and nice views of the gardens.

We enjoyed a couple a glasses of champagne in the conservatory which overlooked the perfectly maintained gardens before visiting the Pommery Champagne house recommended by the hotel and discounted for hotel guests.

We ate at the restaurant which was truly amazing. Five courses complimented by different champagne which is the best dining experience I have ever had. We then were entertained the bar area with live music.

A perfect stay. Although the prices are not for the faint hearted. But then this is a fine Chateau with 1st class service, some of the best I have ever experienced.

Room Tip: I would imagine all rooms are good, however overlooking gardens is likely to be the better view

Yes this IS a chateau and we were welcomed as if we were royalty. We did not stay here as we were staying at the Royal Champagne in Epernay however we dined here one evening and it was a 5 star experience. Exceptional service and beautiful food and wines to match.

Chateau les Crayeres is fantastic! Located centrally in Reims in Champagne country this incredibly friendly and enjoyable chateau has it all !! They will arrange your tours of the nearby Champagne houses (private if requested), serve you breakfast, lunch and dinner in as formal a style as you desire, and put you to bed in a beautifully decorated chambre! It has it all for that once in a life time experience!! Go now! Allez maintenant!!

This is a place to indulge in luxury. From the magnificent settings and lush gardens to the grandeur of the rooms and superb food. Les Crayeres is a place for the discerning, those who love the exquisite pleasures of life, even if we can only afford them for a brief weekend. This hotel is a dream place filled with personal attention, caring for every detail with discrete elegance and courtesy. We stated in the cottage on a side of the chateau, the rest of our party stayed in a room inside, which we of course visited. Spacious, grand toilette and bath, Hermés products, chimney, the whole lot. The cottage has 3 small apartments, with terrace and windows that open to the glorious green spaces so beautifully taken care of. Great beds and pillows. Cheap TV set, but who would go there to watch tv. The staff welcomes you with a glass of champaign, and are attentive to your every wish. If their purpose is to wrap you in luxury service , they manage to do it without exaggerating nor becoming kitsch in the attempt. We loved every minute of our stay there, and on Sunday morning , after an extraordinary breakfast yet again filled with details and pomp, we relaxed in the lounge chairs placed in the seemingly infinite gardens, the sun shining above us, listening to birds sing, and the wind ruffle in centuries old trees. Unforgettable experience in the Champagne region. Their flag restaurant Le Parc, deserves a review of its own.

I am writing this whilst sitting in one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. My husband is gently snoring beside me and my dogs are resting after a morning walk. The door is open and I am looking at the vista of sky, trees and Reims cathedral in the distance! Shortly I must get up and leave this little piece of heaven in order to travel on but currently I am enjoying the indulgence of decadence.

We arrived yesterday for a one night stay prior to a break I am having in order to mourn the death of my Father last year. We walked our dogs in the gardens and then around the local area - stopping off of course to buy champagne for my trip!

Last night we had the gastronomical meal - which was exquisite, well balanced and all served by pleasant and interesting people.

It is pure indulgence but if you can stay here for at least one night -
