“Convenient and comfortable hotel with better than expected restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2014

This hotel is in a convenient location opposite the river and a short walk to the town. The room was comfortable and clean with table and chairs, a good size TV and comfortable bed. The fridge was empty but useful for storing our own food and drinks. The windows opened but when shut cut out all the noise of the busy road below. We arrived early and were able to dump our bags while the room was being finished. Parking is available in the underground carpark at 10E a night.

The pleasant surprise was the restaurant. We very rarely eat in a hotel's own restaurant but were exhausted from sighteering earlier and it was raining. The food was good and excellent value. We had a 16E menu with pork chop and hand made beefburger for the mains. I had the dessert buffet, where there was at least half a dozen varieties and my husband had the cheese.

All staff were extremely helpful and polite, and spoke excellent English if needed.

Room Tip: Ask for 2nd/3rd/4th floor facing river

Needed secure parking and preferably town centre which I found here. Very helpful staff. Room above standard of other Campanile I have stayed in. Comfortable bed. Easy detour from motorway and be in town centre. Parking 10€extra but secure under hotel. A must if you have collector's car- or one you cherish!

Room layout, specially the toilet of poor design. Furnishings and amenities scarce (i.e. No paper tissues). Poor breakfast with low quality products. Unfriendly staff: not a glance or hello on walking in. Good location.

Room Tip: A modernisation highly recommended.

The location is two minutes away from the toll way exit, so you can find it quite easily. The secured parking is also available underground with a parking fee of 10 EUR per night.

The reception lady was very helpful and attentive - just the way you can expect from 5-star property!

The room was not spacious but you get what you pay for, the bed was queen size (European size for double bed), shower was clean, no bath tub obviously and toilet was separated. We only spend one night here, so there is nothing to complain about - especially when most of your time spent in the wineries :)

At the lobby, all famous champagnes are displayed and i can quarantee that the price is unbeatable!!!! i bought one bottle of Veuve Clicquot at 35 EUR, basically there is almost no mark-up on the price. There is no room service, so usually they do not allow you to take the champagne up and drink in the room - but the staff managed to lend us an ice bucket to take up to the room - and we enjoy our Veuve!!! The staffs here are amazing!

Buffet Breakfast is good enough with variety of bread and bakeries, coffee freshly made from the automatic machine, croissant ran out when we got there - but kitchen lady managed to bake more for us ! juices, jam, cold cuts, cereals and most of the basic continental items are there, of course no egg... but we did not have any issues with that. The price was 12 EUR if i am not mistaken. It is good value for money comparing with breakfast set that you can get in a cafe in town at 8-10 EUR per person.

Definitely a good place to sleep as a stop over, all expectations were met, cleanliness, efficiency, value for money, convenient and comfort!

Hotel is in a good location to a lot of the attractions in Reims. If your up for the walk, which is beautiful along the water, you can walk to most of the wine cellar tours , approx 40 min brisk walk, offered by the different vendors. It was also really nice to just wander the streets and get lost.

The rooms are standard, nothing fancy, but they did have a small fridge which was great to store a bottle of champagne. The air conditioner in our room didn't work, but the weather was cool so we just opened the window and it was good. It can get loud when people start getting up and moving in the mornings as the doors have a tendency to slam shut. Not a problem for me as I am up early.
We traveled with a large, 100 lb dog, that they did accommodate however the gentleman at check in at firsts said no, which I understand it a big dog, but when I explained we had called prior to booking our reservation to verify they would take the large dog he was understanding.

Parking is very tight. There are limited spaces and if you don't get one you will be parking far away as street parking in limited. Also the spots are really small. But the parking in under the hotel with key entry only which was nice for security reasons.

The hotel staff were all friendly and helpful. There are maps available and they can give great recommendation and directions. The hotel is easy access to the highways and only 30 from Epernay.

Mrs,
We wish to thank you for this helpful comment about our hôtel.
Actually we renovate our conditioned air system. We are sorry for the perturbation caused.
Many of our foreign customers specially from the US are disapointed about the french standard of the carplace's dimension.
We understand this disapointment and try to find a solution.

Hoping a future visit,

Best regards

Amazing shower it was like being under a warm waterfall, Room was clean and comfortable with extra easy chairs and opening big windows . Secure parking was very good , breakfast was standard for France . Meals in the restaurant were not top notch but their are plenty of nice eating places close by. Also 15mins walk to Taittinger Champagne . Good option if you are visiting champagne cellars. Only issue was lifts out of order, luckily we were only on the first floor.

Room Tip: First floor room at the back is very quiet.

The air conditioning had not been turned on yet we were told on a hot May Day. Our airconditioner was blowing hot air making it worse before we asked about being moved to a room with working AC only to find out it wasn't ON in the entire hotel Website said AC, not just AC when they decide. the bed was uncomfortable. the housekeeping staff tossed our room AND went through our bags even though we had a DO NOT DISTURB hanger on our door. the elevators were being serviced the two days we stayed so we had to take 3 flights of stairs each time we went to the room, not a big deal, except at arrival with our heavy backpacks and bags. we have stayed in a number on our 14 days in europe, but these two nights were the only bad two nights or bad hotel experience we have had. dont stay here. stay somewhere else. maybe even another country.

Sir,

We are really sorry for the desagrements you had in our hôtel during your trip specially the A/C maintenance problem..

But as sorry as I'am, I must confess to not understand one of your remarks.

It's true one of our lifts was unfortunately on repair. But the other was just turned off for 3 hours. The rest of the time I can assure you it worked perfectly.

By the way your comment was very helpful for the maid's staff and the whole hôtel.

I present you, in the name of my staff our apologies.
We hope you 'll keep good memories from Reims and some other from our Hôtel

Best regards,
