“Pleasant hotel, excellent value for money”
Reviewed September 3, 2010

I stayed one night in this hotel and was pleased with everything. The underground parking was easy and the hotel reception and bar area is very welcoming. The hotel is NOT brand new, although the rooms are very functional and perfect for an overnight business stay.... although I was surprised to find no safe and no fridge in the room.
I stayed in Room 306 which had a partial view over the river, and my colleague stayed in Room 309, which had a slightly better layout, but lacked the nice view. Overall a good hotel and if returning to Rheims, I would definately consider staying here again.

We stayed in Reims en route to the UK from Italy. This Mercure is very easy to find as it's within sight of the autoroute - but is also very quiet. Plenty of car parking available and all reasonably secure. Our family room consisted of two adjoining double rooms - but at the family rate which is very good. Ample space for us all. Hotel is within walking distance of the centre, but a short drive to the main champagne caves. Reception staff were very helpful in booking us onto a tour.

We stayed for two nights . The rooms were basic but spacious and clean with comfortable bed. The receptionist who checked us in (Claire) was amazingly efficient and helpful with our questions and organising tours etc. Short walk into the centre. Didnt notice the smell others have written about - we were on third floor.

I stayed in this hotel for one night.
It's pretty easy to find, and close to the center of Reims (but the area around the hotel is very nice and quiet).
There are a lot of good restaurants in this part of the town.

The rooms are spacious and clean.
There are no problems with the hygiëne.

The personnel is nice and helpful.
You can also get a good breakfast in the morning.

Overall, this hotel is well worth the price.
I can definitely recommend it.

We used to stay in this hotel a few years ago on visits to and from the UK and always found it to be a comfortable stop-over. Then it seemed to price itself beyond our means. Now the prices are lower but the standards have also dropped. Service is impersonal, our room needed renovating - the furniture was scuffed and gouged, only one chair etc, a horrible hard-to-define smell pervades the corridors, and the former hugely cheerful bar man who used to serve us a glass of champagne whilst sharing his knowledge of the wine sadly . is no more. The saving grace was that the room and bathroom were both clean but all in all a slightly depressing experience.

Great location for this property which stand few minutes walking from the city center, the Cathedral and the main routes to almost everywhere in France. However, we expected much more seeing the pictures and reading the comments by other travellers.

Briefly, pros:
- great location
- possibility to park the car (even for free)
- free wi-fi
- satellite television
- free mini bar (if you choose the option "privilege" which cost you an additional but reasonable fee)
- calm and quiet

Cons:
- horrible smell in hallway, corridors and also in the room (we were given a non-smoking room which had a terrible smoking smell)
- rooms are not very big, we expected much more space
- some of the furniture of the room should be renewed: carpet, chairs and even the bed were not in good conditions

Overall: fair enough for the amount you pay, but I would not rate it more than "average"

We arrived at the hotel, having driven from Switzerland and were planning to use it as a stopover, en route to England. The reception area seemed OK and the receptionist was very welcoming. We found our interconnecting rooms, which were very basic. The hallway smelled very damp and musty - very unpleasant. We asked for information about the champagne houses and were given incorrect info. We found a nice restaurant in Reims and then decided to drive home that night. We didn't even stay the night, preferring to drive home.
