We found this resturant by accident, as we were early for a booked champagne tour.
It's a lovely little unpretentious place, that is clearly a family run establishment.
The duck was so amazing, that we returned the next day to have the same again (well, similar dish which was just as nice, as the menu changed depending on the fresh ingredients of the day - hence the name).
I am coeliac (this means no gluten), and despite our terrible lack of French, our server (the owner) was incredibly helpful in ensuring that I was offered a good range of options. She was also very patient with our Fringlish.
On our second visit, the restaurant was booked out for a large party, but we were still offered a table in the back (cozy setting) and served us in good time.
Even though she was rushed off her feet, our lovely server came out of the restaurant to wish us 'au revior' as we left.
This restaurant alone is a good reason to return to Reims.

We happened upon Au Plat du Jour by chance - and how fortunate for us. We were a large crowd - hot and hungry - and the waitress attended to us in a wonderful manner. She brought us drinks, a fan, and a great/interesting meal. We highly recommend this restaurant with a great family feel. Great food and service. Would absolutely return!

First - note that the website connected to this trip advisor page is NOT the website for this restaurant. I tried to point this out to the owner, but I speak no French and her English is minimal. I think she understood, but do not be mislead to the wrong place.
Dining at this restaurant 3 nights in a row was a warm and satisfying experience. I felt like I was welcomed home each night and with a fantastic dinner as the bonus. Noella, the owner and our server, was kind, patient (ie our lack of French), and attentive. The food was delicious and the portions were large. You should not miss the pesto sauce that comes with some of the salads - I with that I could bring jars of it home. The salads were perfect - fresh, tasty dressing and a perfect whole tomato on each one. One night we had pork kabobs, the 2nd night guinea fowl, and the 3rd night a giant bowl of mussels. Dessert was excellent - a peach tart one night, a lemon tart another, and a cheese plate the other night.
It's a cozy welcome for a couple of Americans looking for a warm welcome and a delicious French meal.

We read about this restaurant on trip advisor and knew we had to try it. It's quiet, nice and absolutely delicious. The lady who served us was very sweet and tried very hard to communicate with us in English. We loved the food so much last night that we are back tonight and again tomorrow night. Add plat de jour to the top of your list for Reims.
