“More of an Ibis suite than a Novotel”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

I am a frequent traveler to the Accor hotel chain hotels. I must say that I don't understand why the Novotel brand is associated to this hotel. For me the service and luxury level are more in line with the Ibis brand (not even Mercure).

You are really paying for the large suite more than for the Novotel level of service. Which I did not needed, I wanted a Novotel hotel

The good
- Friendly staff
- Well located within 10 minutes of the historic center
- Close to the train station
- New, clean
- Suite is large and can easily accomodate 4 person in 3 beds
- Free on demand TV films

The bad
- Room is on the cheap side. Modular plastic bathroom and toilet are not even close to the Novotel standard. Cheap furniture, bedding
-WiFi was not making it to my room. Had to go in the corridor
- Can not access my corporate network with the cabled internet service
-View on the trains or on a non descript neighbourhood
- Breakfast is good but selection is basic. Any Mercure or Novotel is better

Room Tip: WiFi do not make it at the end of the corridor Choose a street facing room instead of a tracks faci...

I stayed here on a business trip. Hotel offers parking at 10 euro a night. The staff was friendly and informative when asked about places to eat. The location is good as it is within a 3 min walk of the train station and the centre ville is about 5 min walk. The room was clean and included a min fridge, microwave, hot water pot. The bed was comfortable. Free wifi offered though I found it to be a little slow and the connection in my room was spotty. They offered free movies in multiple languages. The breakfast was good and price was reasonable. I recommend staying here if in Reims.

The Novotel itself is a very good hotel. Very pleasant and spacious.

The breakfast was a unique experience but very good. Whilst compact, the ability to have fresh eggs cooked how you like them is actually very good. (Note for the future, it's simmering water not boiling water, the perfect egg takes a couple of minutes longer than you think.) If bread isn't available, just ask, it seems they don't just bring it out unless asked. Once the major traffic slows, they bring it out on request to stop it going stale. Still not sure about the stewed apples with berry compote.

The shower in our suite gets 11 out of 10. Thinking about it 12 out of 10. -:))

Used the bar a couple of times and our bar staff Hafia couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable.

Only issue is the distance from town. While the station is open its 10-15 minutes walk. After 22:30, it becomes a 20 minute hike. While we were there it became very windy and eventually snowed, so the hike became a bit of a chore.

Parking was good for us but there were only 12 spaces in a secure car park for a hotel of 80 or so rooms. I see this as a MAJOR issue during the summer. The hotel should allow booking to avoid disappointment.

Overall, still a 4 but if I could I did an equivalent on the other side of the railway tracks, I would probably choose that?

Stayed here twice in 6 months. Good concept, clean spacious rooms, kitchenette facility (fridge, microwave, tea/coffee, free eco-snacks) good buffet breakfast, easy (pay)parking, friendly staff, self service food/toiletries distributor in lobby. Free wi-fi . Very good value for money for family groups/weekends...

We stayed two nights in October at this hotel. The room was quite large. The bed was great. Very clean room. I found the bathroom a little unusual. It was preformed and just inserted into the rooms. The bathroom was very clean. The room included a day bed that could have been used by a third person.

It was a little walk to the center of town. You had to go through the train station and out the other side to get to the centre. After we walked it the first time, it did not seem so far. We really enjoyed Reims. The cathedral is beautiful. We had some good meals and plenty of great champagne. Would stay in the hotel again.
