We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon and really enjoyed our stay. The room that we had was huge and so was the bathroom. The decor is elegant and very special and the bedroom that we had was modern. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We did not have breakfast at all so cannot comment on that. The pool is small but nice for a dip if it is a hot day! Would go back .

La Villa Eugene provides the sort of experience that appears effortless. This was our fourth stay there and it has never failed to please. Restful, relaxing and ideally located. We were offered a special deal for Friday and Saturday at 119 Euros per room per night. We knew what to expect and we were not disappointed. The quality and cleanliness are consistant. The only tiny flaw was the one server at a busy beakfast time on Sunday couldn't keep up with demand and had to be asked to provide fresh cooked food and coffee when supplies ran low.

Another couple, my wife, and I stayed here for two nights. The hotel is beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpfull. The rooms we stayed in, while being standard, were spacious and up to standards of a four star rated hotel. The breakfast room was impressive, and the breakfast was way above average. If we had known the difference ahead of time we might have moved up to a deluxe room. My wife fell in love with the furnishing of the upscale rooms that the staff graciously showed her. Our rooms were on the top floor with beamed ceilings; really neat, but the furnishings were French country rather than period French of the delux rooms. We would stay here again anytime.

We liked this hotel so much that we stayed here twice, first on our road trip south and second on our return to england. It is a converted mansion and garden on the outskirts of the town. The rooms are elegant and very comfortable with super king size beds. The bathrooms are spacious and provided with toiletries and towelling robes. On both occasions I requested a garden side room. It is very quiet. Breakfast is served in a glass conservatory and of high quality and worth the extra cost if one eats a lot and treats it more like brunch. All staff there are pleasant and helpful. Earlier in summer guests were sitting out by the pool and reading and having drinks. The town is 0.8 mile away down the mansions of the Avenue Champagne. We walked to town and enjoyed the wine bars and restaurants. Parking is in a secure area alongside the hotel within the grounds.

We booked this based on Tripadvisor reviews and whilst the building is beautiful, we were disappointed with our stay, for the price paid. It is located at the end of Ave de Champagne, which we knew. It is superbly located for Mercier tours and Comtesse La Fond tastings very close by, but it is a good 20 minute walk into town - beautiful to walk past all the champagne houses though.

We booked a standard room with shower (144 euros for Sat night, 129 for other nights) - our room was extremely small and one of us had to sit on the bed or chair so the other could pass in the room. The room was nicely decorated and the ensuite bathroom was smart, but again very small. Whilst showering in the compact enclosed shower, I constantly hit my elbows whilst trying to wash my hair!

Breakfast was extra at 17 euros each - the first experience was nice, peaceful, tranquil and a fairly good selection. Service was really slow and plates were not cleared between selections - not the service we were hoping for at 17 euros per head. We did have breakfast in town the next 2 days in a pretty little cafe for a quarter of the price. We had breakfast in the hotel on the final day and it was really busy - having to go and find staff for tea/coffee, egg and bacon options were cold and undercooked and they ran out of croissants......in France!! Guests arriving for breakfast later had a limited selection - no croissants, only baguettes.

The pool area is really lovely - the weather was quite cool on 2 days but for our last day the weather really improved so we wanted to enjoy the pool area. Firstly, the 'heated' pool was far too cold for swimming which was a real shame. Secondly, one of the staff was using a noisy petrol leaf blower adjacent to the pool for about an hour and then proceeded to hammer wooden pots - this was in addition to loud road noise, so not the most tranquil resting environment!

We saw pictures of suite rooms which looked amazing, but at 329 euros plus 34 euros for breakfast for 2 of you, prices are far above other amazing places we have stayed in.

Reception service was lovely, very welcoming.

Epernay was beautiful and we'd love to return to the area, but would stay elsewhere next time
