We met Paul who was initially welcoming but only gave what seemed a rehearsed description of the champagnes and would not allow us to try more than one type because it was "low season". We tried the "Dom" equivalent but it was not even close. Would not recommend.

And I thought Champagne houses were all old. This newcomer to the Avenue de Champagne and the Champagne biz was delightful. We met owners Paul and Agnes and enjoyed their polite, English-spoken hospitality. He was well-spoken about the bubbles in the bottle. Do stop if you're in the neighborhood. It's worth it.

One of the Champagne houses we visited in Epernay. Very warm welcome, English speaking. We met the owners Paul and his wife. He knew a lot about the wine (of course he does he is the creator) told us a good deal about the wines. I don't know much about Champagnes but I have to say this was one of the few bottles I enjoyed. Very good Champagne. Would definitely visit again if we are in Epernay and will probably order more when our stock runs out.

Staying at the nearby Villa Eugene we almost walked past this gem on our way to the "names". But what a find. Located in a family home this is the showcase to a small enterprise that really cuts it in the competitive world of champagne. When you visit you get more than the traditional "DEGUSTION" . You get a little history of how this husband and wife team came about making great champagnes. The fact that a michelin star restaurant in Paris now has one of their champagnes on its menu is testament to the quality that this team has achieved in a relatively short time. Prices are also extremely affordable and their Blanc de Blanc one of the best I tried whilst in Champagne. Don't pass this place by!

Today we spent a little time in Bouzy a small village near Epernay tasting various Grand Cru Champagnes. We then came back to Epernay & tried Mercier who we were told had the best tour. If you like commercial & over priced guides then this is for you. If you like authentic, charming & taste then avoid. Go to Avenue de Champagne there is a little house at number 51 called Paul-Etienne Saint Germain is lovely house which family have had only 3 years, they are a stones throw from Mercier & their champagne is twice as good. Try. English speaking is excellent.
