We spent just one night here for a birthday celebration and it was wonderful! The food was superb, good service, magnificent views and welcoming staff. Yes, expensive but a once in a lifetime experience for us and well worth it! A really great memory to cherish!

My wife did some great research and found this gem of a restaurant....we did not stay here...just wanted a fabulous meal in Epermay and we loved it! Great view, service and cuisine....however, you will pay dearly ($$$$) for this greatness...:)

There are so many wonderful experiences to be had in the Epernay region but if you want to be treated as honored guest and leave feeling like a family member, go stay at the Royal Champagne. In typical Baglioni Group fashion (as well as Relais and Chateaux of course), everything is done exceptionally well with a warmth and personal touch hard to find in any hotel chain.
From the warm and welcoming greeting of Annelies at reception, the personal attention paid to us by the General Manager Martime in selecting the best room for our tastes to the exquisite service during our luncheon orchestrated by Benoit, the Maitre d'Hotel, everything was super!!
Each room has a wonderful view of the hillsides full of vines overlooking the town of Epernay.
We enjoyed a spectacular luncheon in the main dining room overlooking the Marne Valley, the steak tartare being one of the finest I have had. The selection of cheeses matched with champagne was perfection in and of itself worth the journey.
We shall be returning again, this time with friends from america before the fall harvest.

Room Tip: Any room with a terrace is perfect.

I tend to try to take a positive view of people's efforts but this is my lowest score on Trip Advisor so far. The restaurant is the particular problem but as this was part of a 'half-board' package, I feel fully justified in taking this into account when grading the hotel. This hotel has changed hands (now part of the Baglioni group) and I would strongly recommend reading the latest reviews, given that some people have obviously been happy here before.
The hotel is perfectly adequate. Rooms in the new annex were quite large and you can sit on your private terrace and enjoy views over Epernay below. However, there were water leaks in the shower and under the wash basin.
Breakfast was a substantial 25 euros (if not part of the package) and began well with good ham, smoked salmon and orange juice. Things deteriorated somewhat with very average pastries and the coffee was absolutely dire. Not particularly good value at all.
Dinner the previous evening came off a menu priced at no less that 120 euros (plus drinks) per person. Now for that sort of money I expect to be seriously impressed: I wasn't. The Kir Royale aperitf was poorly made. The first course of asparagus and langoustine was adequate: my wife's John Dory main course was simply ghastly (the fish was dried out and hopelessly over salted) and my Sea Bass was only marginally better as it has a rather nasty sauce. The champagne souffle was uninspiring and cheese board adequate. The wine list was very expensive. All in all, very poor value indeed for the high prices being asked. I simply cannot recommend this. For these prices, this was a dismal performance (and trust me, I really can tell good food from ordinary and this is the most negative review that I have written)
By all means stay here if you are in the area (and if you think the hotel rates are good value) but don't go anywhere near the restaurant unless you check the most recent reviews before you go. But you will have trouble persuading me these prices are going to represent good value ( an excellent three-course lunch at the Michelin 2 star restaurant in the Connaught Hotel in London costs £35, for heaven's sake).

I loved this hotel - we only stayed two nights on the way back from Alsace (I think) to break the trip up. I had the best souffle that I have ever eaten - it had ice cold Biscuits de Rose De Reims soaked in champagne at the bottom and was just sublime. Everything is extremely comfortable and I would definitely recommend. My Tripadviser profile picture was taken in the room we stayed in. Will definitely return

This historical "Relais de poste", where the horses had to be changed after the climb from Epernay, has much to be enjoyed for ! A first class welcome by a first class staff, you start with a flute of (an excellent) Champagne as you arrive, what a treat ! The rooms are wonderfully decorated ( the same interior designer as the Chateau de Codignac, in Auvergne, a must !), with a breath-taking view over the vineyards of Champagne ( the best 100 miles around !), the bed utterly comfortable (also a must...!), the bath-room, old-fashion designed but very modern as far as comfort ,...what else ? And to talk about the dining-room...is a mouth-watering experience ! Excellent service, and the cook deserves an unquestionable Michelin star (which he will soon receive...!), the selection of incredible Champagne wines is up to your best dreams, and the view once more keeps you raving...!The breakfast is the best we have seen since the Hotel Ritz in Madrid...a reference ! Unforgettable ! When are YOU personally trying ?

Room Tip: Any room or suite is worth a stay, but ask for a table by the window when reserving for dinner !

We have stayed at the Royal Champagne on several occasions, and have made it a necessary stop as part of our annual trip to the champagne region. We always book terrace deluxe room and have never been disappointed, the rooms are well appointed with a large, modern bathroom. The terrace provides a lovely area to sit down and enjoy a local bottle, and has far reaching views across Epernay and the surrounding area. We do utilize the restaurant a great deal as part of the DB&B rate that we take, but during a week long stay, if we eat there too many times the chef is not too sure what to do with us in terms of menu. The food is excellent, as you would expect, and so is the service; my only (small) complaint is that sometimes you get the impression that your plate has been sitting waiting for table service a few moments longer than it should have been; maybe under a hot light for a couple of minutes past optimal. However, overall we highly recommend the food and winelist. The cheese cart selection, although not my absolute favorite in the region, is not to be missed. The history of the place is fun & interesting, and the location is fantastic. You are a very short drive from Epernay (which is far preferable to Reims) and next door to some wonderful little villages full of excellent champagne houses, including the beautiful Hautvillers which you can walk to if you're in an energetic mood. The views are wonderful, and the view from the restaurant is always worth seeing. Staff are always very friendly and accommodating, and will always help with local bookings etc. It is definitely not inexpensive, but depending what you are looking for, very hard to beat.
