Probably the best and most interesting tour we did in the cellars of Épernay. The tour in the cellars is made by a small train that guides you through the history and some points of interest with the aid of an audio guide. And in the end a good glass of champane!

Decided to pop to Mercier as we were staying at the Villa Eugene next door. Slick tour in a multitude of languages. You are taken through the cellars on an underground train which was different. Elements of the tour were interesting but it didn't really provide you with much of an insight into the making of champagne (try Lanson in Reims if you want a real insight into the champagne making process - not as slick as Mercier but far more personal and informative). Not my favourite champagne so the tasting was a bit of a disappointment.

Interesting history and tour. Get the phones so you can hear about the cellar, take a tram ride through the caves.Plus a nice glass of champagne.

We visited here yesterday on a day trip from Paris. It is very easy to do if you get the tgv. It takes 40 minutes. Two hours by train the other way so get you tickets early for cheap prices. The tour was very interesting and was good to go beneath and into the cellars. Champagne was very nice and we tried all three. Definitely on the winning list. We bought a bottle from the store and are looking forward to having it tonight as our aperitif.

This is a great tour of the champagne cellars in Epernay, easy access for all ages on the train, interesting and informative guide to the cellars, the champagne and stories about the man M. Eugène Mercier and his marketing stunts.
