“Basic, but good location and good value”
Reviewed May 31, 2013

If you're familiar with the reliable Ibis chain, nothing about this hotel will come as too much of a surprise. They offer basic but good value, clean accommodation for those on a budget, and this hotel very much fits the standard.

If you want luxury, you'll need to look elsewhere, but if you want a hotel slap bang in the centre of Epernay and not to blow too much of your holiday budget on accommodation so that you have plenty left over to buy some of the excellent Champagne that Epernay has to offer, then this hotel will probably suit you nicely.

As long as you're not expecting all the comforts of 4* hotels such as in-room safes, spacious rooms, or luxury toiletries in the bathroom, then there is nothing wrong with this hotel at all. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was nothing special, but it was clean and everything worked. There was a TV in the room, and also free wifi access which I found perfectly reliable.

Reception staff were pleasant and helpful.

Breakfast had a reasonable selection of cold food, but very little hot food. Coffee came from just one coffee machine, for which a queue frequently developed.

If you arrive by car, then the hotel has no dedicated parking, but it is right next door to a public underground car park. If you ask at reception, you will find details how how to buy a multi-day pass for the car park, which is quite reasonably priced and certainly cheaper than the standard public charges (we paid about 16 euros for 3 days parking, which in my experience is pretty cheap for city centre parking). There is no lift from the car park to the hotel, so when you arrive you'll probably want to park temporarily just outside the hotel (not sure if this is legal, but unlikely to be a problem if you're just there for a few minutes while you unload) to unload your luggage and then go and find the car park.

The hotel has a perfectly adequate bar, which also serves a fairly basic selection of food. You'll probably want to go out for dinner, but that's no problem, as there as plenty of places to eat within walking distance (except on Sunday lunchtime, when most places are shut, and you'll need to be persistent to find somewhere open).

Overall, if you're looking for somewhere in central Epernay and don't want to spend too much on accommodation, then I'd highly recommend this hotel.

Thank you for the comfortable stay in Epernay. Your breakfast bar was excellent, with surprising variety and a mix of healthy foods and other treats (not so healthy but just as tasty). Great coffee too. Your rooms are comfortable and clean. The only thing missing, and it is very minor, was kleenex, which I personally am used to as a Canadian. I only add this as a tip that might be helpful, and not a criticism. Your staff was great, even though my French is limited to about 10 words. I would and will easily recommend your hotel to others.

This hotel is in the centre of Epernay and within easy walking distance of the champaign houses and good restuarants. The hotel is inexpensived but comfotable. Breakfast is optional but not included. It is central and close to coffee shops and backeries. Our room was next to 2 smocking rooms which resulted in the smell of smoke in our room, otherwise a confortable stay

Room Tip: Ask for non smocking rooms well away from the smoking rooms

I was spend 4 nights in this hotel at the time of Champagne trip.
Hotel located from 10 minutes walk from centre, location is very good, nearby are some bars and marketplace, also Michelin star restaurant Les Berceaux.
Reception was located in 2nd floor and because hotel have only 1 elevator, it was logisitcally tough to make check-in and check out because of our group of 22 members. Altough, the service in reception was friendly and fast.
Room was small but clean (all hotel was fully renovated and looks as new), we had king size bed, flat-tv, air conditioning system, bathroom was equipped with bath.
Breakfast was standard Ibis breakfast.
Free Wi-Fi in room was available, car parking was from 20 meters of hotel entry. It was free from 7PM to 9AM and in lunchtime and also on Sundays.

Very affordable hotel in the heart of the Champagne region. We stayed for 2 nights and we're not disappointed. Our expectations were for a clean hotel, easily accessible and not far from the champagne houses - we got all 3. And we were very pleased with the price.

Some things to consider - the breakfast is very good, but is 8 euro per person.
There are many parking spaces around this hotel however Saturday morning there is a farmer's market around the corner and some of the spaces are reserved.

The rooms in this Ibis are a little tired and very basic but you pay for what you get.

The reception area, bar and restaurant must have had a recent face lift and look much nicer.

The main reason for booking this hotel, apart from value for money, is the location - right in the centre of Epernay so very good.

There is parking 20 yds away but it's a small car park and expensive. There is a much bigger right next to Moet Chandon and for a little tip, if you park there for the weekend and leave on Sunday, the barriers are up so you don't have to pay!

We stayed here on a Monday night and there are not really very many restaurants open on a Monday - and there is no private parking luckily we got a spot right outside the back doors which it is free between 7 in the evening and 9 in the morning!! So we timed it so we went off to do a Champagne tour and by the time we got back it was time to leave as we only stayed one night and we did the Mercier Tour which is right the other end of the Avenue de Champagne !! otherwise you could actually walk really easily if you doing the Moet & Chandon Tour !! Everything is right there !! and it is very safe to leave lugguage in car - well we had no problems and we had a minisbus with blacked out rear windows!! wortrh just taking a smaller hand lugguage bag with you to put a change of clothes ; toiletries in!! Saves humping it in and out of stairs - elevators etc.
Nice little bar in hotel too
