Comfort Suites Epernay
Ranked #9 of 14 Hotels in Epernay

As previous reviewers have said, it's a converted army barracks, the rooms are spacious and there's everything you need from a hotel room, but it all feels 'cold' and impersonal and looks as though it's been done on a (tight) budget - things not finished off properly etc. Perfect for a cheap overnight (if you get a good rate), and if you don't want any fancy food, the Courte Paille on the little industrial estate is only a 10-15 minute walk and serves good steaks.

We also thought it very strange that there was a kitchenette in the room, and (very unusual for France) tea/coffee/sugar and plastic(!) cups, but no kitchen items - in fact no way of heating water to make tea or coffee! We got chatting to the guy on reception and commented on this, and he said that there had been stuff when they first opened, but it's pretty much all been stolen - he said the French are notorious for taking anything that's not actually fixed down! Anyway, he happily lent us a pan and proper cups so we could have a hot drink, and although he didn't ask us to return them, we did next morning.

Breakfast was a pleasant surprise - we weren't expecting much, but it was better than many places we've stayed, and a very reasonable price.

This was the second time we've stayed here, and would happily do so again. It would make a good base for staying a few days and exploring the area without spending a fortune - as long as you remember to take some kitchen equipment with you!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have views over the vineyards.

The accommodation is rather basic but OK as it is a 2** property.
As it located out of center, car or taxi is needed.
Good basic continental breakfast with excellent bread and croissants.

Stayed for one night (on a good offer). Satnav could not find the place, but we found out ourselves. A lot of parking spaces. The girl at reception was extremely nice. Double room on third floor was large. The room was not dirty, but did not have a clean feel to it. Kitchenette with NO equipment. Bed is hard. Room was very cold; small heater that had trouble warming the room. Breakfast was above average for French hotel.
To sum up : ok for 1 night if you get a good price.

Once an army Barracks, now converted into a hotel. Still a slight feel of the barracks about it, but it makes for spacious rooms with high ceilings and big windows making the rooms bright and airy.

Reception were friendly and we got a good deal and opted for a suite with bedroom and livingroom with little kitchenette (not well equiped, but we didn't need it anyway).

Our sat nav couldn't find it (but does need an update), however we managed to find it without too much trouble, though more singnage in the local area would be a good idea.

We stayed just one night and were quite happy with our choice.

Room Tip: Insist on a room that has a view to the vinyards, over the parking lot as the other way looks over a...

This is not really a hotel, but a mix between some residential rental-room service and a motel. The staf was friendly when we visited, but when something is broken in the room, no one comes to fix it (instead they write it down on a list,... a long list).
The room was small, but clean. The toilet seat was broken, the bed is small and terribly hard and hot water is a rarity (seems to be a problem everywhere in this area).
There's no real bar so you have to pay the staff for taking a can of soda out of a refridgerator.
Due to the fact that the staff doesn't ask any questions, you can mind as well sign in here under the name 'Mickey Mouse' and no one would notice. There's free wifi, and lots of free parking space. This place is ideal for people who want to stay overnight after a bank robbery or something, as there is total anonimity and everyone pays cash. You get value for the very cheap price you stay here, but don't expect real comfort in the "comfort suites".

Unclean. Noisy. Views to a housing estate and a barren wasteland. Bad vibe with 100% male clientele (workers of some sort). Fights at reception with another guest trying to put 10 people in a room. Staff grumpy. Out of town.

You feel unsafe and on edge. Certainly no rest and no relaxation to be had here.

I can't think of a single reason you would pay to stay here - no matter how cheap your online deal is it's still not worth it.

We (2 adults and 1 baby) stayed in this hotel for 1 night only and because of that it was ok to stay in the hotel.

The location is awful, it is not close to anything and far from the city.

When we arrived they were unable to find our reservation and took a while to fix it.

The people in the reception when we arrived were friendly and did what they could to help us when we asked for a cot. The travel cot was broken but the reception guide used another thing to support it and it worked.

The breakfast was extremelly simple and didn't seem really fresh. I was unable to eat the fruit salad.
